Огромное спасибо. В такой идеальной машине даже маленький недостаток как неправильные часы очень сильно раздражает. Обязательно сделаю все как у вас.

Would it cause problems for the car if i removed the sat nav unit completely?

You would lose the Sat Nav display obviously, but also the Clock Display and the ability to lower and control the rear screen, plus the ability to split front and rear sound. Unfortunately quite a lot of functions go through the Nav Unit, including the CanBus signal. You could do it and see what functions you are OK managing without?

Hi Elgrandonaut, looks like you have used a double pole single throw switch with 4 pins? Would like your feedback as I am wanting to attempt this on my series 2 :) Many thanks!
@5RGJDCoy2 жыл бұрын
That's right! Two pins/one side for the back up battery and the others for the permanent battery connection (the 2 yellow/green wires that come into the back of the Nav unit.) You'll want to have the wire from the back up battery and the two yellow/green wires on the same side of the switch, so that when you 'close' the switch it 'makes' both of those connections respectively and breaks the connections when opened, so along with ignition off, you will cut all power to the Nav Unit. Good Luck! 🤩

I reckon as a complete novice I could give this a bash but I would need more info on the actual parts / wires and connectors used? Any further info or links would be much appreciated. Also if I just disconnect the power would the time then just not show on the screens? 🤔 Thanks
@5RGJDCoy3 жыл бұрын
Exactly Ryan, that would stop the clocks displaying, but the Nav unit is central to a lot of other functions because Canbus signals go through it. The easiest (and less involved) method would be to just snip the back up battery single leg, push the back up battery away towards the circuit board, then all you would need to get the Nav Unit and clock to reboot is unplug the unit, wait long enough for any residual current to dissipate (say 10 mins.) then reconnect as a practice, time your boot up (probably around 30 secs) and then re do just before 9am or 9pm, as for parts as a complete novice you're probably best getting an auto electrician to help. Hope this helps?

Wouldn't it be easier to cut the wire to the back up battery then reconnect it rather than take unit apart?
@ДмитрийРыжиков-у6ч3 жыл бұрын
Great video. Well done. I would like to ask you. Where do the red and orange wires connect? Does it power the NAVI C/U when the ignition and ACC mode are off? I'm interested in this because my watch stops when the GPS antenna is turned off and the ignition key is in the OFF position.
@5RGJDCoy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dmitry, Yes it is the permanent battery power to the Navi unit that keeps its memory, when the ignition is off. The 2x Green/Yellow wires are interrupted by these wires and through the switch to be able to turn off the battery power, (Both Vehicle and back up batteries). The clock isn’t illuminated when the ignition is off. It should keep time tho’ Is yours a Series 1 or 2?

I just did this on a series 1 E51 - easy job for me, except for getting the Nav unit out not knowing how. PS; I used tin snips to cut out a section to de-solder the internal batt negative by levering out the middle batt pin.

@@5RGJDCoy after an hour, I went and checked time. It only displayed Self Test mode - 12:00, so to fix this, I needed to unplug power from Nav unit and then plug in again and it reverts to correct saved local time. We have no DST where we live, so a switch is not needed for internal batt, however, a NC switch/button will be needed for every start to get out of Self Test mode. At least that's better than Japan time being displayed.

It might have a Nissan Anti Theft System microchip inside somewhere, that’s already programmed to your vehicle if it’s the original unit, so hopefully it will talk to the vehicle and be recognised on reconnecting?
