At 2:51 - instead of driving a few miles and another transmission refill, I just do a transmission refill every 2nd or 3rd oil change. This makes it so there is always some fresh transmission fluid.

What about the little filter under the base of the air box??? Did you get that little canister out and replace it with a new one?? That tranny oil was awful!!!.. Amazing your tranny still works... What is the process for checking the fluid level on your vehicle?? Do you check it with the engine running in Park, or shut it off and check it while the fluid is still hot??? Which is it???

If you have to drive a couple of miles and repeat surely that's a lot of fresh transmission fluid wasted? Have I understood that?

Just following Hondas recommendation, when you drain your trans fluid you don’t drain what is in the torque converter. So running it will cycle the oils to mix and eventually get it all out

Honda says 30 to 90 thousand. Depending on driving conditions. Some do it every other oil change...some start at thirty. For me, I will likely try to for a balance...50 or 60. Your discretion.

Follow up .. After 32,000 miles I've changed it again. Fluid looks burgundy so still good but nearing bad. I always change it before it looks like oil.. All i did was drain it from the pan refilled it, and drove it for 32,000 miles and now changed it again... So I'd say change 30-35k to be on the safe side

This filter is a bit of a pain in the .... There is a video of a guy doing it and it is doable.,just have to disconnect a few things. He was able to do it from the top, it's behind and below the air filter. I think there is also one in the transmission itself...so that's a no go for me.

@@starkeymorgan4142 why are you contemplating replacing said filters?
@starkeymorgan41422 жыл бұрын
@@thorsal2758 Even though many car manufacturers say it's not necessary, I like to change filters wherever I can. Same reason I would change an oil filter, fuel filter, etc. I probably wouldn't mess with this one unless I felt I was troubleshooting performance issues. Likely just drain and fill. I am at 118,000 and plan on doing that @ 150,000 miles, which will be a 50,000 mile drain and fill. If it's shifting normally, that's all I will do.

I'd assume if changed often enough, a filter wouldn't be necessary, as the tolerances on these cars is so close, there wouldn't be much in the way of metal particles such as on your average Chevy, Ford or Mopar engines/transmissions.
