It's so much easier to change brake pads then you would think. My guide steps you though it.

Great video. How do you move the piston to allow room for the new pad? Thanks for your great videos.

A few options. With the old pads still in you can push then against the caliper to push the pistons in. Or, remove the old pads and you may be able to use your thumbs to push them back. Or use small g-clamp. Or use the wooden handle on a mallet or some such. Worst case you can use a big flat screwdriver but you risk damaging the pistons.

+Road and Race thanks for all you do! The pistons are stubborn and up against rotor. Would opening the bleeder valve relieve the pressure.
@RoadandRacetv8 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would. Probably obvious but connect up a hose and bottle to the bleed valve to collect the brake fluid and you may need to bleed the brakes after. Good luck.

@@RoadandRacetv Can you explain why we need to bleed the brakes after? I'm contemplating whether to open the bleeder valve to release the pressure, or if it would be better to siphon out brake fluid from the tank. It seems siphoning out brake fluid from the tank first may be the easiest, but I'm not aware of all the tradeoffs.

When I took my brake pads out I found a back plate behind the pads I guess they are for anti squeal. Do I need them? Or can I just insert new pads without them?
@RoadandRacetv7 жыл бұрын
+Ben Smith Yeah, just for anti squeal. They get chewed up on the track so I took mine out. You don’t need them.
