Thanks a lot for posting the maintainance videos. I feel so glad that I can refer to your videos as if they are an owners manual. Keep it up, I'm sure R1 owners like me do love your videos.

Nice!! That's what we like to hear - that our videos helped you successfully do the job yourself. I watch our own videos myself when I work on my R1. Of course Todd (presenter in the videos) doesn't since he is an expert, but I still have to reference our own videos to do the smallest jobs. Don't tell anybody!!

I'll ask Todd, but I've never heard of coppaslip. It might be fine, but personally I've hear mechanics say you don't want to put things on or near the breaks that could leak or get on your pad or rotors. I'm not saying you can't, but I just haven't. I'll get back to you later after I see what Todd says. We get tons of emails and comments both here and on the blog so remind me if you don't hear back. Thanks for commenting!

Not to bash you guys , but If you want to post tutorials for people that are new to doing maintenance on they own bikes - you should not forget about cleaning pistons before pushing them in. As all the brake dust/ road grime is not the best friend for seals. Another thing is once pistons are cleaned you can use your old brake pads to push pistons in ( not risking damaging new pads ). Also copper grease on the back of brake pads , and cleaning of pin holding pads + copper grease AS PER MANUAL

Thanks for staying on top of us. We'll move your request up the list as it makes sense given the riding season is back in full swing and a lot of folks will need to change out their plugs. That may film this weekend (if we can get our camera back that we loaned out) and then it will take some time get it edited. BUT, Todd agreed and it is now priority. Standby...

Awesome, glad you got it done. I'll check out your videos and channel. Also - we just uploaded a new video. It's only for R1 Insiders but anyone can sign up on our website. Insiders will get the new video first before we release it later to the public on KZbin, so sign up if you haven't! Stay visible out there!

Sweet video man, thanks! Do you have a video on replacing the brake fluid?

when you used the old pad to push the piston back did you have the master cylinder cap off?
@R1VideosdotCom

Actually yes. That's the one I'm editing on tonight. It's going to take a bit longer to finish up (maybe a week). If you haven't already, you should go to our website and sign up to be an "R1Videos Insider." We are now going to share our videos with our Insiders in private first - - before we release them publicly. When you sign up, you will get to see them quite some time before everyone else. It's a way to add value for our members, so join us now!

Right on! You really should clean them up when you pull them out. We jumped the gun and forgot. Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for watching!

Not yet, but we will add it to the list. We shot this once before, but the quality of the video wasn't very good so we scrapped it. It's going to be quite a while, but this is a video we will move closer to the top of the list. Thanks for the suggestion.

do you never put coppaslip on the back of your pads?

Rear brakes added to the list! You do not have to clean the calipers when you change pads, but you can. You also do not have to change brake fluid when you change pads. But you should change the brake fluid when it starts getting dark and brown. It should be clear yellow to gold. We have a how to video shot for changing brake fluid already, we are just trying to get it edited and finished. So check back for that one!

We don't use anything on our brake pads and have never had squeal. Did you pick that up and put it on your pads because you were getting squeal or did you do it from the get go so you wouldn't get squeal?

Will add to the list (the growing list!). We won't be able to shoot this video in the near future. We are currently working on 4 others that are in progress. Sorry man, I wish we had more time or could do this for a living but we are slammed. Good luck. If you have any questions we might be able to at least help you that way.

its a good idea to remove the actual calipers and clean the pistons well before you push them back in.....that way you dont get all that crap in your caliper!

No - the master cylinder cap is not off. What you see in the video are the exact steps you need to follow and nothing more needs to be done. Hope this helps with changing your brake pads. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Yeah, it shouldn't be much different. Let us know if you have any questions and we'll do our best to help even though we don't have access to an R6. You should be fine following long with this video, but let us know if something is very different. Good luck!
