Hello Jeffrey, no, these are the camshafts seal located above the engine. The rear main seal is on the rear of the crankshaft located at the bottom of the engine. Thanks for watching and for your interest in my videos.

Did you take the timing belt off or just move it why did u show that part? I've replaced the timing belt and water pump before on my 2002 protege5

Hello, The main purpose of this repair was to replace the broken timing belt. I also changed the camshafts oil seals and the crankshaft oil seal which were leaking while it was open. I made the video on each repair so that it would not be too long. Thanks for watching and for your interest in my videos.

how do i know which way to put the cam gears back on? seems like there is 2 notches on each gear.. dont want to mix up orientation of intake vs exhaust...

@@timpaps i meant each cam sprocket has 2 notches and I wasn’t sure which notch was for which cam.. but I figured it out.. thanks and awesome video.. it did help out a lot

Hey how to tell if is exactly that seal leaking I’m getting oil on my alternator belt is it the camshaft seal??????

I am getting same thing just replace both and if still getting oil then it's either valve cover or main seal
