Bought a new house and had this lock on it. Naturally the previous owners didn't leave behind any instructions. Thanks to you, I got it! Thank you.

I followed your instructions as best I could and could not make it function as it should. It lost our combo while changing the batteries. Here's the fluke. I called kwikset who graciously tried to have me reprogram our lock even though the warranty was a decade expired. Didn't work either. Then she asked me what kind of batteries did I replace it with. I told her alkaline. She asked the brand. I told her Thunderbolt, a brand my wife picked up from harbor freight. She said I should use duracell or everready. I said ok and we parted company. Since we didn't have any of the premium batteries I pulled out my volt meter and tested the HF brand we did have. All tested very good. But still no luck. My wife bought a large pack of the duracell's and I repeated the process. Worked like a charm. Moral of story, stick to name brand batteries.

Hi! I hope you're still active! 😅 I was trying this because I just moved into a new apartment with this. Everything was working fine just like the video up until I got to the part to enter the new codes. It won't register anything and I keep trying but nothing seems to be registering when I use the keypad. Could it be defective?

@@theamazingwandawillson8081 Just to confirm, did you perform the door handing detection after the reset? Also, does the keypad light up/beep when you press any button?

@@SmartTechVilleyes I did. The lights on the keypad won't turn on nor do they actually react after I hit the program button.

@@theamazingwandawillson8081 Go to the interior assembly (you should remove the interior cover first). You'll find small switches below the battery compartment numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4. Check the switch labeled 4 and push it up; you may need to use a pin or a similar tool to do this. This should activate the lock. Next, try adding a new code. Also, check the switch labeled 3. If it's down, push it up to enable the sound. Let me know if that works.

@@SmartTechVille ⁠ I pushed 4 up and 3 was already up too. Ran through the steps again and the keypad still won't register anything.

@@theamazingwandawillson8081 The keypad might be defective, but you could also try replacing the batteries with new ones to see if it helps. Good luck!

Hi there, The steps in the video include a factory reset. So it's going to wipe out all the codes once the reset is successfully completed. Try to watch from the beginning and follow the instructions carefully.
