Excellent video well done, difficult to hear what you were saying while bleeding the radiator with the engine running but I think you covered all the main points after. Must admit I’ve often wondered what the bung on the top of the radiator was for.

Hey mate videos your hilux videos are sick, where do you recommend getting a good radiator from for the 1kd, Toyota charge an arm and a leg for there’s, my Ute has done 240kms wanting to drop a new radiator in it soon, can you recommend doing anything else while iv got the old one out? Thermostat? Water pump? Cheers man
@foordoffroad8915 Жыл бұрын
Repco or Bursons have radiators at a good price and probably do the thermostat too, I wouldn’t worry about the water pump unless it’s leaking because it’s quite a big job

Hi mate, great videos, very helpful. Just a question - I also missed the bits at the end due to the engine noise, when topping up the radiator. Am I correct to say its all concentrate until the bit where your reservoir is full then top up the rest with water in the radiator whilst all the air is bled out. Cheers Shane

How did you ensure the coolant drained from the heating system? The owner's manual says 9l of coolant, so I guess if I put in 9 l it is OK, but that assumes heating system has drained as well. And obviously I do not want to contaminate the new coolant?
@foordoffroad89154 жыл бұрын
Youll end up putting about that in there, half coolant half water Just have the heater turned to hot when you drain it but there really is no way to 100% empty the system

Hey mate, thanks for the vid! Just a question. When I was finishing the radiator fill, I left the lid off the reservoir instead of on. Been for a huge drive and it’s still about 2 cm over the B so I’m guessing it’s all good. Just wanna make sure as I just put a new radiator in.
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
Yep that’ll be fine mate, better to have more then not enough

Nah it won’t overheat if you use this method If your worried you can keep waking back and forth looking at the temp gauge but there’s no way it will overheat

I've just filled 8-9 litres in the reservoir before starting the car. Started the car and coolant started flowing out of the top radiator cap. I only kept the car running for about 20 seconds. Any ideas??

Hey mate, that little bleed screw. If I were to do this just for a coolant change would this process work? Reason I ask is because that screw for me is a square... if that makes sense. Help!
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
Yeah the same and it will work, use the 3/8 ratchet without a socket on it to undo it
@JasonMcNally3 жыл бұрын
Yeah cheers bloke, I just went out and tried a 3/8 drive and came back here to say I had figured it out haha cheers anyway bloke! Great videos!

@poojamehard2 жыл бұрын
Aye mate! When you've all done the topping up. Do you need to drain it to the full line or can you leave it at the bleed line? Cheers
@foordoffroad89152 жыл бұрын
Nah just leave it full, worse thing that will happen is will be pushed out the overflow and I’d rather have more then less in the bottle
@James-jt7xp3 жыл бұрын
Hi, if I follow this procedure and fill to the b line.... when I do go for a drive my hilux will blow the coolant out..... until its down to the F line..... whats the F and L stand for?
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
B is bleed F is full L is low Better to overfill it and have a little come out the overflow then under fill it and still have air in the system

@@foordoffroad8915 so if it blows it out... that's normal?

Hey buddy, is there enough room to do the waterpump and timing belt without pulling the radiator out? Cheers
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
Timing belt can be done without pulling anything else apart, there is a video on just the timing belt on my channel The water pump however you would have to take the fan off first to get the shroud out of the way, it would be a pain and once your at the pump your draining the coolant anyway so there really isn’t any point in leaving the radiator in there, just making it more difficult by leaving it in
@benno67503 жыл бұрын
Is there no need to flush the system before installing he new radiator?
@foordoffroad89153 жыл бұрын
Depends on the condition of the old coolant If your changing it because it’s rusty or dirty then yeah but I was only changing it because the water pump failed so no need

4 or 5 litres of coolant to start with and then top up with water, just to get the water/coolant ratio close to 50/50

Oh dear, you used concentrated Coolant, and, not the Toyota brand! Out of any of the fluids in a Toyota, Toyota Coolant is the one thing you should stick with.
