This was extremely informative and useful, especially for a n00b like myself. Thanks for the size of the socket - I never seem to remember lol

When he’s pulling the oil filter off, to avoid oil dripping into the engine bay.. there is a hole and a nipple on the under side you can hook a 1/4” or 3/8” hose and route it temporarily or permanently to drain to your oil waist pan. Super easy oil change on this vehicle. 👍🏻

Can you make a video on how to replace tensioner bearing on 03-09 v6 4runner. As no one have made one on you tube.
@joeshmoe89523 жыл бұрын
I got an 05 4runner that I purchased brand new from the dealer with 100 miles on it. I currently have 217,000 miles on it and have been using regular oil and have no issues. The dealer never recommended anything else plus the owners manual says nothing about using synthetic oil so I guess I'll continue to use regular oil, saves me money.
@zathias61543 жыл бұрын
Of course the dealer recommended regular oil, because they want you coming back when she starts wearing out!

Lol it doesn’t save that much so it’s like whatever.

You need to mention that when you take off the oil filter it doesn't collect in there, it drains write down on your motor and onto your driveway carport of wherever you're working on. Put a small cup or water bottle or something underneath it or if it does come out it's going to drain right through that little hole and all over your floor

Hello, why did you use two different kind of oils? And how do i know much oil i should add every time i make an oil change? Thanks and great video!
@Tex-Toons2 жыл бұрын
If I can answer on their behalf; they used the same kind of oil out of 2 different sized bottles. The first was just a 1 quart bottle and the second was a 5 quart bottle. The V6 4Runner's capacity is 5.5 quarts. I only know this because when I get mine changed, they charge me for 6 quarts because they have to open another 1 quart bottle and use half of it (like he did with the first bottle in the video). I imagine your vehicle's capacity would be in the owner's manual, and I'd bet you could find it online too.

I always wipe the drain plug off and put a thin coat of High temp silicone all around the threads . It acts like a mild thread locker and sealer . Ive been doing this on Cars trucks and motorcycle drain plugs for over 40 years with excellent results .

What oil brand recommend? Because toyota stop used 5w30 they replace for 5w20
@alexanderestk3 жыл бұрын
The only reason they switched is for fuel economy. You can even use 5w30 in a brand new 2021 4runner. But because of fuel economy, they say to only use 0w20. I use 10w30 in my 04’ 130k miles. Royal purple hmx is best or you can use Mobil 1 high mileage.

5-15 seconds to let the oil pickup circulate.

About 5-10 minutes will give the oil enough time to drain down to the pan .

I skip the drain plug and the mess these days. I installed a Fumoto valve in place of the bolt (dirt easy install the next time you change oil) . Then Just connect a 12 in or so piece of 1/2 inch ID plastic tube, point it into the drain pan, flip the open little switch on the side of the valve and presto, oil draining. You'll know when it's done when you don't see oil draining thru the clear plastic tube. Look up Fumoto, you'll thank me, BTW this is an unsolicited tip.

i used to trust a toyota dealership for oil changes. but over the years they have been over filling the oil, which could be the reason why i have a valve cover leak. i don't hold the oil change guy resposible, i go after the captain, Toyota.
@omgitzsteg3 жыл бұрын
You're putting solvent on your gasket right away, maybe that's why it's sticking and breaking down like that.
@omgitzsteg3 жыл бұрын
Also the bottles normally sit right on that type of funnel, or in the thread, no point wasting a drop of that stuff.
