Tank you for a great video. Remember to Check the Break fluid reservoir when pushing in the pads. It can overflow. Also keep your foot off the break pedal to get to the reset menu.

I bought brake pads and they didn't have that metal clip that goes inside the caliper piston. Where did you get that from and how do you fit it?

Hi what size does the clamp have to be to use to wind back the caliper piston. I need to oder one but they have different sizes?
@fab-b9818
@fab-b9818 2 жыл бұрын
Hi for this car no need to rotate the piston so any clamp will do, even some big pliers can be used, just make sure to use an old pad to push on the piston, don't push directly on it if you use pliers.

Hi mate. Great video. I know this is a three year old video but if you see this and can help I’ would a really appreciate it. I’m looking to do my first every brake change by my self. I actually tried taking the calliper off today to check which pads I need and had I watched this video earlier, I would have known that little trick with the screw driver to slide out the the two 7mm Allen key screws and have been successful. So will try again in my next day off. 👌🏽👍🏽 anyways, am I correct in assuming that your front brake disc is 330mm? And is there inly one type of pad shape for that particular size disc as AUTODOC lists three options for ceramic pads for my front 330mm discs and they all look the same to me.
@fab-b9818
@fab-b9818 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks, great if it can help you. I'm pretty sure there is only one pad shape. My front discs are 312mm at the front and 336mm at the rear on my 2006 330i.

So do you always have to replace the sensors when replacing the pads?
@FabB
@FabB 4 жыл бұрын
yes, otherwise you can't reset.
@brcleaningcompany2566
@brcleaningcompany2566 4 жыл бұрын
FAB-B ok, but can i get a better response? As in, yes you can’t use old sensors with new pads because,,,,,,,,,,,,,,????????????? What specifically makes you say this. Your seems to be the only video that mentioned specifically having to replace sensors when replacing something as simple as pads.... please let me know before i try to do this mysefl, the sensor part threw me off a bit
@FabB
@FabB 4 жыл бұрын
@@brcleaningcompany2566 You should ask BMW why they have been such A**holes to force us to change a part that has no issues. There's probably a code in the part read by the electronics and if you don't change the sensor the code is the same and it won't allow you to reset. I'm maybe the only one talking about it but I've have many people asking me why the reset wouldn't work. Each time they hadn't replaced the sensor.But you can give it a try yourself if you want to confirm😄.

FAB-B how about this. What is i don’t have a brake light on,, i want to change the pads? Is it just 2 sensors? Or 4 one for each tire?

@@brcleaningcompany2566 There's a sensor for the front and one for the rear.

Never put grease on cloth backing of brake pads. Even ATE says in the manual not to put grease there. Grease will deteriorate the cloth after long time exposure!

You didn’t open the brake fluid cap to release the excess air, this can cause issues in the braking system

Those rotors are beat up bro replace them or you will develop a glazed looking surface and heat spots on the rotors and on the new Brake pads, therefore a reduction of braking performance will eventually will happen

I can tell you they weren't, I only just changed them a couple of month ago so they did one and a half mor year after the video was made and had no issues even with the caravan in mountain roads 😉.
