Nice. Like those. Caught my singers silk dress halfway through a song. We had to finish the song attached to each other 😁

Thanks Dylan, I was taught to give the "Plain" strings an extra inch because they slip easier and this from working at CBS when I was a sprogg learning about all things Fender. Just my 2 pennys worth.

The way i get the right length is by pulling the string tight across the tunner with my left hand and then with my right hand i grab the string at the nut and pull it back 1/12 - 2 frets then cut it off at the tuner. Works like a charm.

I prefer the safety posts. I just wish they came w/ a more modern sealed mechanism on back.

Those are my favorite tuners...so easy and they stay in tune wonderfully. Would be interested what you think about locking tuners now...seems the older method, was to pull through post tightly, tighten locking screw, clip string with no run-off, and then tune. Now I'm hearing, pull through post, bend string around post like a half wrap or so around, tighten locking screw , then clip string after the small wrap. Apparently, PRS had an older video showing the 1st and a newer video showing the later. I've kind of done it in the later as I didn't see an issue with having some wrap on the post with a locking tuner. But it's the internet...who knows.

How the fuck are you able to restring the high e so easily??? I seriously had to fight with mine to stay in there!

So there are 2 types? one that goes down the tuner hole and the one one the side that you need to tighten with a coin?

I don’t know why all guitar tuners aren’t designed like this.

I recently installed some on a modern (10mm tuner hole) neck using adapter bushings. Worked great.

What is your preferred technic for just standard, non-locking, non-safety tuner posts? Those with just a round shaft with a hole through the middle. I was taught to do a luthier's knot but always have problems with the thinner strings.

??¿ Dylan, why did you pull the end of the string back from the bottom of the hole? Thank you for your no-nonsense videos.

My Iceman has tuner posts where you can do the “regular” way with the hole in the post or the safety post way. I used the”regular way. Then I got a Mustang with the safety posts, and after changing strings on the Mustang, I started doing it on the same way on the Iceman Never looked back

Are the modified jv telecasters the same vintage tuner style?

With a bridge like that tele’s, those tuners are fine. But Peavey put them on my T27 with its funky open bridge, and they’re murder for one set of paws to change.

you can just pull the string tight on the high E then pull it back two tuning pegs.. might be easier

Well… when guitar players get their head out their ass and let some actual innovation happen… then we don’t need to teach new players how to use vintage style tuners.
@Leo_ofRedKeep

@@DylanTalksTone I don't think this needs innovation. This is the perfect simple idea, better than locking tuners. And we still need to teach basics to new people the same way we teach the alphabets to kids.

yep, it has but there are still those out there who don't know how to string up these tuners. I like the fact that Dylan put out one more video about how to string up split shaft tuners, even though I've known for I don't know how long because there are still those out there that don't get it.
