I always thought you were like the bandit in that fantastic movie smokey and the bandit, you only remove your hat for two things, as today is not Sunday and we have no church services going on I guess it must be time to change that oil in your mower. But seriously this was an extresmly interesting video Eddie, I never knew these guys had two filters and two separate fillers, I thought It would have been one filter and filler for all but the more I think about it the more it makes sense to have two as it's two different processes and if one side gets contaminated or damaged to then does not drag all the contamination through the other side. I am being 100% straight with you buddy, I know I look on you as a friend Eddie but you are also a fantastic teacher and I love the education I get from watching your shows bundy thank you so much for sharing this with us Eddie you please take care stay safe and God bless

Mine gets stuck all the time. Thats why when I got my new mower, I made sure it did not have the electric/hydro lift on it. Another thing I like about the foot pedal lift, is when I'm mowing around tree roots or crossing the driveway and such, I can use my foot raise (and lower) the deck really quick. The electric lift is to slow.

great video. i ordered the hydrostatic fluid online and ended up cancelling the order because my manual said the transaxles "are lifetime/non-serviceable".. which i've seen that on rear diffs before too and i still do those. Try using a long-handled wrench so you will have more leverage. The treads on the plugs probably have Loctite on them. Just make sure you're turning them counterclockwise.

Do they happen to have slots in them for an Allen wrench or a Star wrench etc.?
@mikemcn3015 ай бұрын
Mine is a ZT3400 and it has 1/4 inch Allen socket, instead of the 11/16 hex head. I bought a new 1/4 wrench and used a short pipe to extend the handle. Pulled real hard with bounce motion and they broke loose with a loud snap. Be sure to have the wrench all the way in so it won’t strip.

Good Moring Bill, In the past on my lawn mowers I only changed them out when I hear the roaring of the dry bearing. Ill have to look behind the motor when i get home from work today and see if reservoirs are there maybe the pro air filters that came on my zt was covering them and i just didn't notice

The only reason they want you to raise the mower is to get clearance for the drain pan and so you can more easily reach the bolts and bypass. The amount of fluid left even with the rear lifted is so trivial it wont ever matter.
@papawsplace Жыл бұрын
Not understanding what you are meaning. But thanks for commenting.
@mikezupancic2182 Жыл бұрын
@@papawsplace in the video you talk about not raising the mower like the companies show in their videos. The only reason they lift the rear end on 2x4s is to gain clearance for large drain pans.

OUTSTANDING VIDEO. I an new to my Badboy Zero turn and notice a whining noise of sorts, especially on the right side when engaging the drive. I suspect a hydraulic issue but even more so now. Is the noise an indicator of this problem? Seeing your mower make almost the same sound after your first bleed routine Thanks

Badboy doesn’t manufacture the transaxles. They don’t guarantee them either. The actual manufacturer does. So save yourself money and stay away from the jacked up priced fluid that badboy pays to have their label put on it. It’s all about increasing profit.
@papawsplace2 жыл бұрын
I agree Mr. Randell. Just about the manufactures do the same thing.
@raymondsmith6943 Жыл бұрын
Some say use 20w50 engine oil. I know that Bad Boys brand is very expensive at 2 gallons per trans service, plus Bad Boys Filters x3 , plus spark plugs and air filter, fuel filter, and sometimes belts, and in my case 3 new Bad Boy Spindles, Damn ! So yeah, next time I'm going to save myself some money by not going with Bad Boy inflated prices just to buy their name brand. These Damn Mower prices have went through the roof. $5300 plus tax and that was In 2016, now they're around $7000 for the same size and engine. Mowing grass has become ridiculous today.
@mikezupancic2182 Жыл бұрын
Because they don't make them I would be following manufacturer instructions as to what fluid to use. Motor oil us not hydraulic fluid. That said, hydrogear recommends 20w50 that meets certain specs as the fluid of choice on the 4400 pumps at least, but not sure about other pumps they have.
@fredhart7904 Жыл бұрын

Also its very hard to find Bad Boy Hydro fluid around here, Tractor supply sells the mowers, but don't carry the fluids? What's with that. I'm going off brand next time myself. Lawn mowers cost more than a decent used car these days. I'm not paying $7000 to $20,000 just to mow damn grass. Lol

@@papawsplace Me TOO! Love the little cups so I can actually see the oil in them. And I totally agree with all the comment on the Pricey Oil and service products from Bad Boy. Now I use What I feel are decent aftermarket filters and 15W-40 motor oil (Walmart Oil) in every thing. Couldn't get 20-50 full synthetic 'round here if my life depended on it! The Kohler Air filters were a little hard to get as the online places kept sending me the shorter in height air filters mine took the taller ones. Now I'm a real believer of Mulching lawns. I've been runnin' the gator (serrated style) blades and haven't needed to sharpen them in two years. I have to mow twice a week and the lawns really stay green.
