2010 Mercedes GLK350: Rear ROTORS and BRAKE Pads DIY
This is a pretty easy DIY and can save you quite a bit of money. Many shops charge about $800-$1,000 per axle so that’s $2,000+ taxes for the front and rear depending on where you live. The rotors and pads cost me about $280 online shipped.
Duration: 90 minutes (45 minutes for each side)
Tools needed:
• T30 bit
• T45 bit
• 18 mm stubby
• 18 mm bit
• 17 mm bit
• 3 /8 ratchet flat head
• 3 /8 swivel extension
• Breaker bar
• 1/ 2 torque wrench
• Brake pad spreader (I don’t know what it’s called) $14 on Amazon
• Plyers
• Flathead screw driver
• Brake grease
• Brake pads of choice
• Rotors of choice
• Gloves

Hey subscribers. Don’t forget to clean both the emergency brake inner hat surface and front and back of the new rotor surfaces with brake cleaner to remove the anti-corrosion coating before you install them.

Like I commented on the front brake video.....great reference. For anyone that doesn't follow him...make sure you subscribe. Yes, these are MBs, but they're just cars and a lot of work can be done with basic skills. This dude has a bunch of great videos for reference. I'm doing a full brake job on mine today. I've had parking brake issues as well. Issue 1 is the release. There are a bunch of videos showing how to pop off the side cover in. the passenger compartment and spraying some WD40 onto the release cable...as well as from under the dash. If your e-brake pedal comes up sluggish, that will fix it. Issue 2 is an e-brake show dragging. I'll be replacing all ebrake parts today....probably a gunked up adjuster, but the parts are cheap, so why not just rebuild it all. Thanks again for the videos....

Great job showing everything in detail and listing the tools. Would you mind listing the parts numbers or links you got. Also where do i get the torque numbers? If you have them please share. Thank you!

I don’t have the torque values on hand, sorry. Can someone help Lukman? As for part #s, I did a search on eBay for all of it. Don’t have the boxes anymore… :-/

Very good tutorial. We did this yesterday on mine with a friend wo have more mechanic skills than me and all went well. I've just a little issue, I don't know if we did something wrong or if it's not related: I noticed that now, my parking brake doesn't seems to work well. Even if I push the little pedal the more I can, if I put my car on D, and then press a little bit the gas pedal, the car moves. But if I put my car in neutral in a climb and press my parking brake, it's still enough strong for hold the car. Same in D position if I just put the parking brake, then release the normal brake, the car won't move, but if I then press a little bit the gas pedal, it will move.

Glad it worked out for you. Have you checked your brake cable integrity? Might just need to be tightened.

Great video! I had a question. That tool that pushes the brake pads together. You didn’t really explain that part too well. I don’t know how to push my brake pads together. overall you good.Final job looks clean!

Thank you! They are brake pad or piston spread tool. You can get them from Harbor Freight, Amazon or eBay and they are inexpensive. You’ll need something like that to push the pistons back in so your new pads will fit.

Can you change the rotos only if the brake pads still have 80% ? Great video.

Hi Anny. Yes you could but if you’re changing new rotors, you really should change out to new brake pads as well so it wears evenly. Don’t forget to like the video and consider subscribing.

Well done - so, is it acceptable to just change the pads if rotors ok - what's your opinion?
@512TXSDIY
@512TXSDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. No need to speed the extra money if the rotors are in good shape.

I don’t recall on this one but that’s easy to change too! It’s about $15 to $20 on Amazon or eBay. My Porsche and German cars in general have a easy plug in. Check out my library for Porsche Cayenne brake job. Very similar. Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you haven’t already.

Lug nuts should be torqued at 110 ft per foot. 70 as you mentioned is too low and dangerous.
