Hey MB - I was pretty sure it was, but you got me wondering! Just googled it and Hiflo say they come pre-oiled but that they typically recommend spraying on a little more filter oil to be safe. I'll give mine a rinse next time I have the tank off and re-oil it properly. Thanks for flagging that up - I'll pin this comment to the top so that others can see. Cheers!

Thanks for responding. The reason I asked is that I'm about to change the filter on my bike (ER6n '09) and I also got the HiFlo filter but I got the whole thing i.e. plastic/metal casing + the spongy bit, so I checked and it is slightly moist but I wouldn't say it is properly oiled so I'm still waiting with installing it. I only got this bike a couple of weeks ago and it is my first bike so I'm still waiting for a few bits and bobs which I ordered (engine oil, filter wrench, torque wrench, air filter oil spray etc). While I'm waiting for all this to get delivered I'm enjoying your videos and I have to say that I find them quite helpful and really nicely put together. Keep up the good work mate :)

Thanks a lot - really appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to comment. I think the filter oil spray is a good shout for sure. The 06 and 09 are pretty much the same mechanically (the 09 is just better looking!) so drop me a DM if you have any other questions as I've done most of the major servicing tasks now on mine.

Excellent video. Followed instructions and got it done without any drama. I oiled my HiFlo filter, the one I had looked dry. One thing I would say is when returning the air box, make sure the outlet connector at the bottom is fixed onto the outlet correctly. Thanks again Bob.

Silicone spray grease is a great way to loosen up the coils for easy removal, and it won’t eat the rubber. It also basically disappears within a minute so no risk of liquid staying where you don’t want it.

I love your humour. Am I the only one who thinks that some of the editing was to hide the fact that you were rolling around laughing at the frustrations when things went wrong, the world around you (road noise etc) and getting tongue tied and doing the same line again a few times. Top bloke. Great advice. Really helpful. Liked and subbed.

when replacing air filter, is it better to do with an empty or near empty tank?
@senorconhuevos7 жыл бұрын
great video, has everything you need to know. i was thinking of just washing my filter and calling it a day. i live in a low dust environment though.
@motobob7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony - appreciate the kind words. Yeah it's pretty dusty in London and I was riding all through the winter on this bike too. Definitely needed a change, although I've read you can get away with washing a couple of times! They're pretty cheap tho so kindof figured I may as well change it while I'd bothered to get the tank off.

I’m not too well rounded with maintenance on my bike yet but I have an oil leak underneath the air box it’s almost like the clip on the hose above the spark plugs but about 8 inches closer to the battery
@osbaldogallardo38314 жыл бұрын
I’m just nervous to do the removal of the fuel tank alone but F IT!
@sandrovesel37332 жыл бұрын
hi MOTOBOB, please tell me which air filter you use, thanks
@AnIdiotOnTwoWheels3 жыл бұрын
The airbox has three protrusions (? I tried finding a better name but couldn't). One big one towards the back connects to the engine (above the gearbox) A small one towards the back is connected to a piece of hose that has a plug at the end (you remove the plug to drain the oil or water that may be present in the airbox) A small one towards the front that is the reason for my comment. The only thing in the vicinity is the venting from the coolant tank.

Yeah there's only about 8k miles on the bike but it's 10 years old so due a change. I guess it's not the cleanest air in London... bike feels like it's running a bit smoother now which is no surprise.

Always feels smother after new filters and plugs. Did you log this in the app you talked about in a recent video? Cant remember what its called. Dealer would've charged a fortune for doing that ahaha

Yeah it's cool that you can set a time delay like 12 months and it will give you a notification to change your oil :D also I like the todo list as I always have a running list of jobs to do on the bike, little tweaks or things to inspect.

Hi. Can you tell me the spark plug socket size. I haven't got one in the tool roll. Thanking you in advance.x
@motobob7 жыл бұрын
I think it's 5/8 but you're best googling it to make sure. You'll prob need a specific spark plug tool as the plugs are pretty deep in there and you might need an elbow joint in the extension because of the angle.
@pitstop.pen107 жыл бұрын
MOTOBOB thanks 16 mm with extension . Thanks for your help. Hope you got your bike sorted.

It’s a bit of a pain yeah, but once you’ve had the tank off once you get the hang of it so any further maintenance isn’t too bad

You kinda whizz thru the section of the sparkplugs without really zooming in with good light on the process. I've never seen under my ER yet and was hoping your video would have shown more time in the guts but you're cutting after only a second or two. Nice video otherwise.

I bought a T reg ZZR600 for about £800. It's my 4th ZZR600. I'm a bit skint at the mo hence the low price paid. My car is a fiesta bought for £1000. My mates who have cars £3000+ can't understand how I can afford a bike and a car. It's all relative. That said, I couldn't see some of them being prepared to drive a fiesta...
