Thanks a MILLION! You have the answer to a question I have been searching the Cub Cadet website for, for the last hour! They are useless as far as giving owners informational instructions in the maintenance of our snowblower. Shame on them! Unbelievable! Thanks again Friend, I really appreciate the help.

Good video. One comment. At about 6:30 you said it's OK if the oil is on the high side. I would say this is not the best advice. Engines lubricate by the crank shaft hitting and splashing oil into the piston cylinder bore. If the oil is too high, this will not happen and the engine will prematurely fail. Check your manual and verify the oil capacity. My Cub Cadet 930SWE has an oil capacity of 1 quart and it's a big machine. The one in the video is 1 1/2 quarts and another reader mentioned a capacity of 20 ounces, or about 2/3 quarts. I always like to keep my oil within 1/8" of the high mark on the dipstick. If it is over this amount, I just pull the plug slightly and drain a little out.

I have the same machine, as for gas issues I put a shut off valve. I was a bit inventive and figured out how to install one. This is the best way rather than running the tank dry. Also I use K100 stabilizer keeps gas fresh for 2 years. Cheers

@martinwaters55973 жыл бұрын
Good video but a bit misleading. You should run the machine till warm before draining the oil. You should take out the dipstick. Oil drains better. You should START the machine before you check oil level. Oil circulates in engine and you get an accurate reading. Draining gas is no longer recommended. Gas is always left if the carb float. Fill the tank full with Shell TOP grade gas and run for 10 minutes with a stabilizer mixed in the fuel. Do this and your blower might throw the snow 51 feet. LOL
@Subie-Driver11 ай бұрын
All small engines on snowblowers are pretty much the same. Just take the dip stick out first just so you don’t create a vacuum by only opening the drain plug…it’ll drain faster.

Thank you for sharing the video! I have the same model purchased last year but now this year it doesn't start. One mistake I did last year was that I did not empty the gas tank and that may be causing an issue. Still diagnosing it!

Good video. I was not sure how to drain the oil. Instead of being wasteful by running the engine to burn off the gasoline, at the end of the season, may I suggest that you transfer the gasoline form the snow thrower to your lawn mower?
@jamesorsby75535 жыл бұрын
How often do you change it, because sometimes you might have a mild winter and barely use it that year.
@clarksadventures15265 жыл бұрын
James Orsby I change it at the beginning of every winter year due to oil turning old just like your car is supposed to be changed every 3 months because the oil turns old. At the beginning of every season is sufficient but that will greatly increase longevity of your engine
@Peter-9764 жыл бұрын
@@clarksadventures1526 should be changed at the end of the season before storage so the used oil with all the contaminants is not just sitting there in the engine during the summer.

The information about quantity of oil is incorrect. You said 1.5 quart. I went out and purchased two 1-quart bottles of oil (2 x 946 ml). Then I saw the manual "Before starting engine, fill with motor oil, capacity is 600 ml/20 oz. " So it is less than 2/3 quart of oil. Wrong storage info: The recommendations for storing a snowblower or any yard machine, is a FULL TANK OF SUPER GAS.. (always use SUPER GAS all year) with the right ratio of Gas Stabiliser..You will NEVER EVER remove all the gasoline from the gas lines and internals.. Do you actually think the gas empties out completely just cause it ran out of gas???? That remaining residue, that you will never get out, is what fucks everything up,
@marcanthony84653 жыл бұрын
That's what I thought..I always add stabilizer to every container before putting it in my machine. Thank you...Crucial tip
@raulaguilar9339Ай бұрын

I’m just curious what makes that better? I’ve let mine run out of gas and always had it start immediate the next season. I’m just curious what makes that better?
