How to change oil on a dirt bike-Husqvarna TXC310

Hi, I own also a 2013 Husky 310 (red head) and just found your video (thks for posting!). I think that you are missing a couple of important things when doing this oil change... I also changed the oil on my bike last night and this is what I did: Firstly, (same as you did) un-did the skid plate, then untight the filling cap to let the air get into the engine, then un-did the drain plug located on the bottom side of the engine (not the one that you used to drain the oil) this plug has a much bigger hole and will drain the oil in two minutes BUT the most important thing is that is has a magnet, so all the metallic debris stays retained at that plug. This plug needs to be cleaned with a cloth and contact cleaner (brake cleaner). When the engine is "dry" of oil, then I took off the hose that you used to drain the oil. The metallic part that stays on the bike (lets call it "hose holder") where this hose is plugged needs to be removed also using a wrench, take it off the bike, and look for a long metalic filter inside that "hole" This is very important as is a pre-filter to avoid rubbish getting into the oil pump . Clean it up with contact cleaner, dry it with air pressure or with a cloth and put it back on the bike, then put back the also the "hose holder", then the hose and tight it up. I replaced the oil filter as you did. At times it leaks a little bit, than you can use a light film of NURAL to the joint. I feel that very important to do both things on each oil filter (un plug the main drain plug and clean the prefilter) as ALL the debris is retained at both points and will stay into your engine if not cleaned. Mega you have a read head = old engine. He have a black head = new engine from 2011.... He make all thinks right

@@Daanyr Hi, there are 2 types of Husky engines with a red head... the pre2.011 engine based on the 450 engine, and the new "superlight" engine on production on 2.012 (black head) and 2.013 (red head). Ed´s bike must be 2.011/2.012, (black head), mine is red head (2.013). Probably the oil change is different on the pre-2011 bikes, but on the superlight engines is the way I did.

Thanks Ed for your video. I just bought a used 2014 TE310R with a similar engine to yours and your video helps a lot. Megadede also had a good description of the screen that is "secretly" hidden that needs cleaning as well. Kind of complicated for a new owner but I'm sure it will be easy once I do it a few times.

I have a 2013 TXC 310 with the red head and I also remove the small screen filter when I change the oil and oil filter. This is an important step. I change my oil about every 5 hrs of ride time.

Hello guys, I'm building TE310R 2012, which I bought damaged and parted. Trying to figure out oil routing system. Different diagrams suggest different ways to connect hoses (3 hoses: from the airbox, from the engine Tom and from the engine bottom). I'm quite confused. Omg Studio Chile just shy of a quart. There’s a window on the engine to see the level of the oil as you’re refilling it that’s what you should use to determine when you have enough oil

What oil is best to use for this bike please? I know the best manufacturers, just not sure 5w 40 or ??. I'm planning on changing mine soon. thanks

Mobil 1 0w-40 $28 5 qt FS European car formula and a stainless steel filter will allow better flow.

@@eatingplaydoh depends how hard you ride and if you race, I don’t race but do ride pretty hard and maintenance isn’t bad. Obviously it’s more than a drz400 but the performance is worth it
