You can also suck the oil out the dipstick tube on most MB engines. The tube goes all the way to the bottom of the pan for this specific purpose in mind, so a vacuum pump makes quick work of the oil.

Hello, i got a e350d 2016 bluetec. The engine oil capacity is 8liters( that’s what it says in the car manual) What do you suggest, going over a bit or under? Can t get a clean read on the dipstick because looks so messy by the time it s out. For the moment i have 7.5 liters in there

Being under is recommended. Helps with blowby a bit... not too much pressure in the crankcase.

I use a vacuum pump on my other Mercedes, just got a bluetec yesterday can you change oil on diesels with a pump too?

I’m not sure to tell you the truth… I have never used the pump at all. Please don’t use that thing… Honestly, IMHO, the pump is such a gimmick!! The most half-azz, laziest way, waste of money and totally not doing the one thing that oil changes are done for at the first place. All of those tiny particles and metal shavings plus the gunk from the oil that sits at the bottom of the engine (gravity), is not being picked up by the pump at all (maybe some of it depending where the nozzle of the pump hits) but for the most part, NOT at all. So think about it, all that gunk that collects after years, the moment your start the engine, it’s going to slosh around and get stuck somewhere vital to the engine performance or death. Yes, lifting the car up and taking the undercover off to get to the drain plug is a hassle but you are draining oil at the lowest point of the engine which means all of the residual gunk and metal shavings will come out. It’s so much safer and cleaner for the engine! The pump was invented for people that don’t have tools or even garages to work on cars but still tried to find a way to make them happy and think they’re doing an actual oil change and not have spend to money at the dealership. It’s more of a political tool for car makers to make them look like they care about the customer than it’s an actual oil changing tool. Anyway, just my my humble opinion…

Thanks for the input and I agree with you. I've been using the pump so I don't spill oil in my grandparents garage. My pump has thin tube that reaches the bottom of the sump pump. I will stop using it though, you made me realize the potential long term effects of never truly getting all the gunk and debris out

Jam duke ble te njejtin benz te 2012 me 100.000 per 16.000 euro. Sa shkojne shpenzimet dhe konsumi naftes, si je gjendur? A ja vlen?

Per mua me ate çmin shum mire e ke gjet per 100.000 km. Mua me shkon nga 6 l/100km ne rruge te gjata deri ne 9 l/100km neper qytet. Taksat vjetore ne amerike jane rreth 200 dollare. Ndrrimi i vajt bashk me filtrat dhe ate te naftes I bej çdo 7000 km shkojn rreth 250 dollare, kurse per mua qe i bej vete shkojne rreth 50 dollare. Nqs di te rregullosh shum gjera vet, per mua ja vlen.

@@AlbanianFix jetoj ne zvicer e ktu bie bore dhe jam akoma duke vleresu nese ja vlen ta mar apo jo. Makina eshte vetem rwd dhe jo 4matic. Mendon se do kem probleme me boren? I vetmi preokupim qe kam eshte ky pasi makina eshte si avion, i mbajtur ne garazh e tr gjitha sherbimet te mercedesi, full optional amg line. Me jep nje keshille te sinqerte nese ja vlen te rrezikoj me boren meqe ka diferencialin mbrapa apo te gjej me mire nje formatic.

Per bore nuk di ça te them fare, jam kshu out fare se ktu ku jetoj nuk bie temperatura me shum 10-12 grade, eshte ngrohte gjithmone. Kaq keq eshte bora aty? Hajde se po flasim per shqiperin neper vende ku bie bora keq fare dhe mungojne disa standartizime rrugore qe te jene pak me te sigurta rruget. Po ne Zvicer? Aty ku parametrat dhe kushtet jane te plotesuara ne maksimum, sbesoj se do jet kaq keq. Apo ka te ftohte te acarte aty me ngrica dhe bore qe edhe me zinxhir ti kesh gomat, prap rreshket? Megjithate siç te thash, une nuk flas dot per sa i perket bores se skam patur asnjeher rastin.

Makina me duhet cdo dite te shkoj ne pune prandaj po vlersoj cdo aspekt. Gjithsesi me vjen keq ta le makinen vetem per kte shkak por do ta mendoj mire, rrofsh per keshillen e sqarimet e qarta si me bo servisin vete makines👍

No such thing as best. If its synthetic and in spec, they're all pretty much the same. My friend's fleet of sprinters with this engine just reached 700, 750 and 800k km respectively on Ravenol VMO, original timing chain on all 3 vans. Change your oil more often instead of trying to hunt for snakeoils.
