Why did the mechanic remove the hose from the brake caliper? What was the reason?

After watching it again I found out why, to get better access to the bolt with the ring spanner.

As spotted by others this is a pointless step in the process. You need a 13mm open ended spanner to undo this bolt sufficiently along with a 17mm open ended spanner to hold the female part of the caliper slide bolt assembly. Undoing the hydraulic fluid hose simply means you get brake fluid everywhere and have the re-bleed your brakes on completion to ensure no air is trapped in the system. Your car might be due this step but I’d personally opt to do this as a separate operation using the bleed nipple rather than undoing the brake fluid hose!

Need someone's opinion, I am currently in process of changing my rear brakes on zafira, I've got wind back tool that ain't the issue, I noticed the pain in the arse E20 bolts now do I try and remove them my self and risk snapping or rounding them off or am I best taking it to a garage?? Im competent in the fact I know how to fix a snapped bolt but haven't got tap and dye kit, so do I risk it or just give it a garage to sort as they can have the hassle of removing them???

We recommend you use a professional car workshop or consult the mechanic in order to avoid the damage of the item. You will see what method and with what tools the mechanic dismantles these bolts and then you can carry out the replacement by yourself.

Hi all ,not happy with this demo ,get the car up remove wheel ,pads brake hose,go to remove caliper with the e20 torx as in intro only to find it is a e18 please all double check as cardoc dont know arse from elbow .fuming
