@@JaceD4V1S88 The crushed part of the washer holds it from moving, but when you remove it, it loses that holding property. I guess you could bend the end down against the threads. I would not torque it any tighter than the spec is, as (in my opinion) because it could be hard on the bearing being too tight.

If anyone is having trouble putting the caliper back on there’s a small bump on the brake pad, if that isn’t aligned with the indent on the piston, you’ll have trouble. Grind that bump down and watch how easily you get the the bolts in after that.
@unclemarksdiyauto
@unclemarksdiyauto Жыл бұрын
Some will say that bump is important, but I have noticed on the aftermarket pads, they don't use that feature.

Sorry I did not show where I jacked on this one. Not my car. Usually if there is a subframe mount, that is what I was jacking on. (where the subframe bolt goes into the body of the car. Usually a big puck size mount with a bolt going through it) If unsure, do some more research. You don't want to bend anything. Please be safe!

@@unclemarksdiyauto 2013 dodge dart limited. It’s the same deal as yours but where you took off your bottom bolt for the caliper bracket . You have room to put a socket and ratchet with no extension because your control arm isn’t blocking your ratchet from snapping on to the socket . I got the top one out fine . But I tried using an extension on the bottom one and I can’t get it to break loose because the extension is making the ratchet bounce too much and I’m having a hard time steadying it because my extension takes my ratchet all the way out inside my spring . Even with just a 3 in extension

I have had one of our Grand Caravan front hubs replaced at about 43,000 miles (70,000 kms) and a rear one at 78,000 miles (125,000 kms) Steve. Seems to be "normal" for Dodge products.

I went through all that work, then she got some shop to do an oil change, then it acted funny, Dodge said it is a variable valve timing issue. $2500 parts plus labour (which she doesnot have) They took it on trade and gave her $2000 for it. I would have paid that! Think she owes $10,000 on it, so tacked it on to whatever she bought! (She lives 7 hours round trip from us) I don't know what she bought. Car had 135,000 kms, was a 2014?

Thanks for the correction on the torque for the caliper bracket mounting bolts, John. 55 ft lbs sounds better! The front bracket bolts are probably in that 120 to 130 ft lbs range. Many rear brackets are in the 55 to 75 ft lb range. (As I mentioned in the concluding comments, double check the specs for your self just in case.)
