How to change rotation on a dayton 120 volt AC motor.

i forgot to mention in the video not all motors will have a blue and yellow wire. others may have different colored wires.

Thanks for the video. I knew you could change direction on a 220/480 motor by swapping two of the three leads but did not know you could swap directions on a 120V motor. I have a vintage table saw that needed a motor, found one at a garage sale for $5 and it fit and worked but spun the wrong way. Not knowing the rotation could be swapped like that, I have been searching for one that spins the other way. You just solved my problem. Thanks!

So my dayton motor has small red and black wires inside which are connected with spade connectors. These are not the main wires to wire up the fan to the switch. Would those small wires with the spade connectors be the ones to swap to switch the rotation? I have no diagram on the little door

Do you know how to wire a switch so you can run the motor in either direction? I have a three position switch and a similar motor.

I don't think you can wire a 3 way switch to change direction. As far as I know the only way to change direction would be to manually switch the wires like I did. I will look into it tho and see what I can find. Thanks for the comment!

if you have some scrap steel laying around you can make your own cover otherwise search for a junk motor and take the cover from that motor. if all fails you can probably buy a new one at a hardware store.
