I would get a dedicated drift (a steel rod) rather than using a good hex wrench for this. This advice is in the same category as not using your screwdrivers as pry bars - just get a dedicated pry bar for that. I like to use a dead-blow plastic-faced hammer for these types of jobs, it transfers more of your energy into the drift, there's less bounce/rebound, so you can use gentler taps for the same effect.
