At the end of the video you here me complain about messing up a clip, luckily I was able to fix it during editing. Thank you for watching.

Dude, great camera work! This is my first time changing the spark plugs and I'm glad the boot fell off because I didn't know if it were separate from the wires. Thanks a lot!!

It's a good idea to put a small amount of anti-seize compound on the threads of the plugs before replacing them.
@buzztrucker
@buzztrucker 4 жыл бұрын
Most modern spark plugs come with a coating that prevents them from seizing up so the anti-seize compound is unnecessary.
@johnpotsch7349
@johnpotsch7349 2 жыл бұрын
Some say the anti-seize coating insulates the plug and prevents heat transfer from the plug to the head. A guy might want to do a bit of R&R before hand. I will say don't get that shiny shit on the threads that are closer to the chamber or on any surface that will see the inside of the chamber.

Thanks for the video man. Took me right around 3 hours to change plugs, wires, and 1 coil on my 2010.

You made this look so easy, I ended up much bloodier. Those rear cylinders were a real bear for me.

Jonelle Vanburen when I first seen where those rear plugs were I was pretty nervous. It was a lot easier than i expected. don't get me wrong it still took a while but video editing was able to remove the extra 30 mins of footage that was meaning less.

I figured as much. I have an 03 Avalanche, it took me 3 hours to get the passenger side cylinders done. Luckily, my husband did the other 4 for me lol.

I know this is 4 years old but why did you remove the wires completely if not changing them. Just because they would be in the way? Why not just remove from plug and tuck out of the way?

At 11:21 you're taking #8 out but don't show how or where you got the room to take it out??? that's the pain in the neck to take out. you went under the fender or from above?

Everybody says the rear plug on the passenger side is the hardest one to change but I think the rear plug on the driver side gave me more trouble.

I wish the boots would come off the plugs that easily. That was not the case with mine. I ended up having to pull the heat shields off with pliers and all of the ends pulled off. Then I had to pull the wire connectors off the plugs with pliers to get the socket on the plug to remove it. I am glad I was planning on changing the wires too. I have yet to find a job that goes as smoothly as the KZbin video.

Rear one on passenger side is a mother the get it out, too little room to work on I tried cursing and yelling at it but didn’t work so no choice but to remove it with my spark plug socket and another socket on top of that and my ratchet, it comes out little by little but you have to be patient cause it takes a while to get it out.

@@4WDmania thanks for a great Vid….yep….I have been changing mine every 30,000……but need to do it myself…..how did the 41-110 iridium work out ? been using the Platinum….some debate on that…but good you put the GM tech notice…in the Vid…good luck….

Man you fast forwarded thru getting the wire off the plug drivers side front, how did you get the room? And the passenger side rear? There is virtually no room to pull that wire off, I cant get the leverage.

The only one that mattered, on the back passenger side and you didn't even bother to at least show us what ratchet - extension you used. I understand that you can't get a camera back there but you dragged us through all 7 of the easy ones and then NADA on the one that could have saved us some trouble. Never mind, I'll just do it as if I never saw your video, same thing.

i still dont understand how your wires just popped right off the plugs. on mine, even after getting them off, the second i put them back on, they create an air tight suction force that cannot be broken unless a pick is "flossed" around the plug/wire, this is impossible since there is a metal shield covering the base of the wire at the plug. it works very well on other vehicles, still dont understand why yours popped right off and mine didnt. how many miles were on your truck? it doesnt exactly look "new" (looks about as many miles as mine)
@4WDmania
@4WDmania 8 жыл бұрын
+drwombat my truck had 140,000 on it. They do create a small vacuum, but certainly not an unbreakable one.

good video but let me tell you it's not as easy as you show, I know I did the changing and the 7 and 8 were a pain in the ace. # 8 is very close to the a.c. canister which has a metal plate beneath it to protect it and will cut the hell out of you so just bent it a little while going for the spark plug using a extension that of 1 3/4 length extension or less, others wont work.

At 9:32 you said that that is #1 is wrong, that's #2 the order is for a 5.3= 1 right, 2 left , 3 right , 4 left , 5 right , 6 left , 7 right , 8 left ( back at driver side looking from fan to back of engine)

What a pain Id like to kick the engineers ass whoever decided to put that #8 in an almost impossible position. I possible cross threaded the plug but it was the only way to get that sucker in! Plus the wires were too short and somehow my truck had iridiums when acdelco says to use platinum. What a hassle I guess if it doesn't need to be serviced for 100k miles they don't give a flying cluck.

Slide a piece of garden hose over the plug and start the plug with that, it easier to align don't know why it just is.
