I just completed one of these spark plug r&r for a neighbor. My hands are big ol arthritic clubs, so getting into tight spaces is not much fun. I found it to be a whole lot easier to go in through the wheel wells. Takes about ten minutes to remove the wheels and pull back the splash liners, saves a lot of time and you can actually see most of the plugs. In fact, I probably had more trouble with number one than with 8. Do one bank, then start the truck. That way, if you have an issue, you can narrow it down to bank one or two.

@@backyardchevy328 By going through the wheel wells, no 8 was not difficult at all. The truck I was working on is a 2004, and the driver side may be a bit tighter than the newer versions. if i'm not mistaken, that hard one to get to on the passenger side (bank 2) with the plate in the way is slightly more accessible from underneath (5:27). though if it's really stuck on there, i'm not sure what adapters or attachments would be suitable given the lack of space. i was tempted to just remove that shield/plate (4 small bolts?), but i fortunately got the spark plug loose with just a stubby 3/8". cheers for showing that view mate!

Good video man! What do you think about the skp brand iridium plugs from rockauto? They’re the cheapest iridiums and I’m on a budget cause I’m poor lol, also I’ve been told to change the wires at the same time but should i just replace the plugs for now?
@backyardchevy3283 жыл бұрын
Thank you🙂...me personally if i was on a budget id go with the ac delco platinum plugs over the skp iridiums...if the wires are the originals or if they look like originals and the truck has over 80k miles yes i would also replace em

Can any loose spark plugs or wires cause my engine light to come on??
@backyardchevy3284 жыл бұрын
Yea if the wires not clicked in fully itll misfire, the rubber boot will insulate it...loose spark plug can too, if loose enough it may lose compression and also not go in far enough to ignite mixture

what is the recommended mileage for changing the SP?
@backyardchevy3286 жыл бұрын
Manual actually recommends at 100,000 miles on the original ac delco plugs, but i change em every 40k-50k. Or if its running rough i like to check one or two of em to see how the plug looks, if u see a lot of carbon definately change em.
