@alexmarshall38152 ай бұрын
The best guide I found. First time round, the whole process takes a long time. It took me just over an hour. But it's a unique system that does a unique things, so....one thing I noticed is that the bridge does gradually become straight (flush with the body) after repeated tunings and playing with the bar, so don't rush to adjust the springs if the bridge looks tilted at first-it does come back to balance naturally, at least mine did.

Brilliant tutor, thank you for your work. It makes it clear how to go through all of the right steps. I've been tuning my gear up from drop C to drop D as I did this so a quick note to my guys: Adjust the bridge height by turning the screws in the back *before starting to fully tune up the guitar*
@Gearhead_472 жыл бұрын
Awesome to the point tutorial. Only two things i might add is when you put on new strings you dont have to clip the ball end, just feed the strings through the tuning key bolts and leave the ball ends on wrapped around the key bolts. 2nd when you tune a floyd rose to save some headache retuning twice or even three time just tune from outside in IE 6-1-5-2-4-3 or reverse. This way you only need to fine tune a second time and each adjustment you make balances the bridge along the way. Rose bridges are definitely worth it once you get used to them. Ill admit i havent changed my strings in over a year 😮 hence why i had to refresh myself a bit. Hope this helps and great video again nice work

My first sting change on a Floyd Rose thanks for the excellent tutorial . One trick I already learned before the string change was how to get a standard tuning , and drop within the range of the fine tuners . I couldn’t get there as it came from the factory so I unlocked it , put the fine tuners close to the bottom , and the fat E only two turns from it . Tuned the guitar carefully , locked it , fine tuned , and was able to get to drop D with the fine tuner range .

@@kimhoffmannandersen5477 For VST definitely try and get a hold of a nice preamp pedal/DI box. I have always been a Tech 21 fan, DG also make really killer ones. Saving up for a Two Notes Cab M which will be a game changer for both guitar and bass VST recording for me with the amp and cab sims. My "wooly thumper" is a MIM P I have had since 85. (Steve Harris flats so it is a little bit limited to that role.) Jazz basses are way more versatile, my main is a Hamer Cruise which is essentially a j bass. (also have Schecters and others) The keys are pickup selection and tone knob setting/EQ. Where you pluck on the bass and how you attack the strings alter the tone as well. @@kimhoffmannandersen5477 Sounds like you are primarily on the bridge pickup, blend in a bit more of the neck pickup, slightly increase your mids, and pluck towards the middle of the bass. Should balance it out a bit more and keep the growl. In 89 I was in an all original metal band and almost every song was in Eb or F# so I know what you mean. LOLOLOLOL The main difference in approach is looking at it as rhythmic foundation. You do not have to stick to just the root notes, you can change chord voicings by creating inversions, create movement with passing notes that step up to the next chord etc. Think like playing a 7th chord on guitar, it needs to be resolved by the next chord. As long as you are having fun is all that counts in the end! 😁

I purchased a Yamaha RGX620DZ used for $360 CDN in near perfect condition about 4 years ago. The action was a little too high, so I shimmed it, changed it from the 10's it had to 9's, and all of a sudden it turned into this $1000 beast that stays in tune all month and then some (I change strings once a month regardless) , with 1.75mm action at the 12th, zero fret buzz or dropouts. Hard bar use _barely_ makes a difference to the tune. Yamaha know exactly what they are doing, and it's a shame they aren't 'cool enough' for many players. You could have an instrument well above it's price point. Not to mention the fact I can literally cut every string off it, restring it, tune it about 3 times and then it's all good., Zero float issues and no nut tools needed.

That's a fine looking Jackson guitar. Strangely these days it's really hard to find decent Jackson guitars in the market. Thank you for the video!!

Some of my first guitars were nj series bc rich guitars and I used to struggle so hard restringing those things. Wish I had known the plate trick back then 😭

I got mine at a garage sale one of the lock things are missing along woth the little cube (i know nothing about Floyd roses ok?) And there was no stings on it to begin with. So i have a very fancy ukulele right now.

What should I do if the screws in the back are too tight?

I fixed my Floyd Rose easily by open up the back of the guitar, block the mechanism with a piece of wood and closing the back. Best fix ever.

This method is way better than what I'm doing. The backplate for holding the floating bridge in place is better than changing 1 string at a time. For me the bridge is like a seesaw where I adjust the back screws on the tremlo claw, and the tuning machines. I'm trying to get the bridge to sit flush with the body, while trying to tune the thing to standard E tuning with lighter gauge strings. I can get close but it's just not there.
