any notes on removing the purge valve connector when it seems to feel like glued on there? in general my purge value nuts were difficult to disconnect same with the bolt holding it in place same with the pipe tube. EDIT: I got mine off... Try pinching the very end and not touching any of the rest of the purge value connector... sometimes i think it might get melted from heat.. if not it should come off... unluckly i have leaking problems still...

Can you explain the difference between this Purge Valve vs. PCV Valve replacement? I read online but its confusing still. Thank you!

I’m not a ASE mechanic and more someone who tinkers but PCV is normally at the bottom of your crankcase (i.e., purge crankcase valve). Purge valve is related to your EVAP fuel canister. What codes are you getting? If similar to mine in this video, I would replace the part I have in this DIY and reset the code and see if it comes back on after a drive cycle. Depending on the car manufacture, they use these terms interchangeably causing even more confusion. I bought this OEM Honda part new on eBay for under $20 :-)

That lower on mine screw is rusted on, came out a few turns and stopped dead. Nothing helped, stripped the screw. I can't find that bracket anywhere, do you know the part number for it? Oh and the screws too!

Hi 512 TSX thx for this video I didn’t see any videos for the Purge value or PCV on 4G TL’s , My 2014 which is same as your 2012 just got a Tighten Fuel-Cap light on so I tightened the cap which didn’t help & I haven’t touched my cap in over 2 Weeks when I got gas Is this the fix to make it go away?

Good morning mikey. It is difficult to know 100% without plugging up your car to my scan tool, but I expect that it should go away. The goal is to fix the annoying notification without spending too much so I would try the process below in this order: 1. Get a new OEM gas cap. $9 online and if this doesn’t fix it, go to #2 2. Get OEM PCV valve. $12.99 online and if this doesn’t fix it, go to #3 3. Replace purge valve. I went with refurb for $24.99 since OEM is about $125 online. I had to do all three on my 2012 and my “tightening fuel cap” notification hasn’t turned back on yet. :- ) Hope these vids are helpful. Quick note I'd like to add, I've replaced 4 total in a span of 2 months, mine would be OK for 1 week then spit out the tighten fuel cap with no cel, my mistake is buying it from oreillys, they only do exchanges on sensors if they've been installed some did give me cel finally the manager said give him a refund 😂 I have a new oem honda replacement on its way now, long story short buy oem for emission sensors, I live in California so that means it needs to pass smog

Try changing the purge valve. It’s very cheap and then reset the screen.

Process of elimination. Try the valve first since it’s cheap. Reset the light and then see if it comes back on?

I get this alert on my used 2013 TL SH-AWD 3.7 with 100,115 miles. Now some 101,3xx miles later, I still get the tighten fuel cap alert. I have a oem ready to replace but when my mechanic installed motor and transmission mounts, he sprayed something around the fuel door/cap. I shoukdve asked what he sprayed but im just waiting to see if the alert comes back on before I install the oem I have on reserve. Also, I did check my fuel cap and the o ring looks in great shape. Does anyone have any idea what the mechanic may have sprayed in that area and why the alert occurs besides a faulty/failing purge valve? When i told my mechanic, he wanted to handle it as he did before replacing the part so again what could he have sprayed???

It’s hard to diagnose without physically seeing, hearing, etc. it but that code is a EVAP canister shut valve. Have you checked your gas cap or tubing to the fuel tank?

@@onepolarman Both are fine but I would do OEM because cost isn’t that much more. Once you change it, you have to manually erase the error message on the dash and then you’re good to go.

I hope this is my issue . The code read bad fuel valve. Diagnostic is 89.99 and if this is the issue the fix is 150.00 . Im a female and not making any excuses this isnt something i can affors not to get fix but if i can do it myself and save all that money i surely dont mind . I have an accura ILX 2014

I hope it fixes your issue too. Don't forget that AutoZone can actually scan your car for FREE, but can't erase your engine code. If you decide to spend $89.99 it is better for you to purchase the scan tool and save it for future use. What was your check engine code?

@@512TXSDIY no I replaced the cap myself once and then still had similar stuff going on and off so they got me the part from O'Reillys the purge valve and replaced it I drove off and hour later it came back on the check emissions we put the 02 sensor reader it said purge valve on it ima try to check the hoses connected to it 2m and look for the receipt for what they did and call them because I need to pass inspection I got class A license and can't risk tickets
