you can get Batteries from places like Battery world or normally alarm retailers sell replacemement batteries. Make sure you are replacing your battery with one of the same voltage and Amp. If you have tried changing the battery but problems still persist, its likely to be another fault on your system. It's likely you will need to get someone to come look at the system.

Good video but is the plugged in unit the only item that needs turning off and then on followed by *97 etc. I.E. no other power shut offs like mains power to house.

Will it not loose the programming if power and battery both removed and then we have to call a tech to program the system from scratch? Thanks

Hi Steve, Ive been installing these for a few years now. Can you let me know the software / program I can use to upload alarm changes locally via a laptop with data tap cable. (An ex-collegue used to do this, mainly to speed up entering in zone names)

So my NX had the service light turned on with the 3 beeps (every minute). But I changed the battery and it's still beeping with the light. What do I need to do to stop it

I have changed my alarm battery, but the problem still persist, triggering the alarm once a while in couple of days, until I just press any random button.. Please help.

After changing the battery, and setting the date, "service" light stays on. "*2" gives "1 - System Fault" which gives "3 - Box Tamper". Indeed, I have a switch on the box. But the box is closed now. Why the "service" light is on? How to reset it? "*7" does not help.

We just bought a new place and according to the realestate agent previous owner is not being helpful with providing information. I had the main switch turned off for the electricity to be connected to the house and when I switched it back on and walked into the house the alarm went off. I used the 4 digit code given by the agent and it wouldn’t stop the sirens. No other lights are on on the pad but Fire light was flashing and Service light was lit. I found the metal box in the cupboard but not the power adapter. The metal box has a screw on one side so I’ll have to go back again to try undo it but would this set off the alarm with the main switch off? And would it be ok to change the battery in the metal box without turning off the power adapter if I still can’t find it? Please help, the agent and the previous owner are basically giving us a run around with this security alarm and the garage remote control even after settlement. We’ve been asking for them from a while ago. Thanks.

Hey, you will need to turn off the power to change the battery, if you can't find the switch then turn off the power circuit from the meterbox.

I had the technician come out today and he did just that - he pulled out the thin red cable at the top inside the metal box before he replaced the battery - he didn’t have time to look for the actual AC power pack. However, the alarm still went off and I was advised that it may be because the previous owner had the place alarmed when the electricity got disconnected and now that mains is back on it goes off (with the new battery but with the red cable left hanging). The master code provided by the previous owner doesn’t work to stop the alarm so that makes things more complicated. I was wondering if it’d be possible to use some sort of software to reset the master code - installer code *8 9713 (?) from my memory didn’t work either. Also, do we put the new battery back in the metal box and the red cable attached back onto circuit board to see if the given master code works. We tested it with the battery outside of metal box with the box open and thin red cable in the metal box hanging. Thanks again for your insight.

Notice the power pack for charging the backup battery is in the roof, is it possible to change the battery without turning it off?

If you didn't tell me that the key would open the lock, i wouldn't have known. I didn't do any of what you said here, i didn't turn off power supply, and I didn't need to reset the system etc etc, I just replaced the battery as you do in anything else, old one out and new one in. Bob's your uncle.

Tom Tan I called ADT and spoke to technician and they said for your own safety the whole system needs to be turned off before you replace the battery. Has to be plugged somewhere, might be in laundry or bottom of a cupboard. I replaced my battery today and followed the instructions in this video and it went smoothly. The most difficult part was removing the leads from the battery, after a couple of years they can be difficult to shift.
