Awesome helpful video! Thank you GTX. Was working on my 2002 Chevy 2500hd duramax. Watch out for the sharp metal edges, I filled off the sharp edge after the first slice. Used some sticky duct seal to hold the screw for that back one. In addition I did cut the duct as recommended. 4.5 hours from start to finish and cost $30 for the part.

Excellent video. I've been putting off replacing mine for about 5 years now. It finally died. Full heat in June in Florida is no fun. Most of the KZbin videos I've seen show the 99-02 older trucks, which are subtly different in how to remove the safety bar.

Great Video, I will add an alternative that is faster but takes a little more finesse. I Justed removed the top dash cover and drilled two holes threw the duct where the two 5.5 screws were and went in with an extension and socket and the actuator can be slid out and tape over holes after installation.

Great vid! How much more work would it be to remove the vent support altogether rather than cut it out? I'm not even sure this actuator is the issue, I already replaced the bottom one and that wasn't the issue. It may simply need a refrigerant charge. I'll try that first just in case.

It is easier to separate the two plastic air vents by cutting the weld plastics connectors on top with an rasor blade then lift the one next to the windshield to have access to replace the blend actuator at the end put Small sheet metal screws to to hold the two air vents together

The one below the glovebox. Theres a plastic cover with three 7mmscrews that will allow you to see it. The screw on the far left of the panel you take off will be really close to the actuator. That actuator controls where the air is diverted to. Once you are able to see it turn your key and supply power and you should be able to hear and watch it move.

Daniel Boyd what controls the coolant to flow through the heater core? I feel like it’s shut off. I took off the hoses to see if it was clogged and it is not clogged but the left hose is still not getting hot only the right hose is warm that goes to core. Most vehicle have a valve that closes it when air conditioner is on do you know how the Duramax Trucks work? Does the metal heater tube have anything to do with it mine had a crack so I removed it and put just a rubber hose for now. I just picked up the metal heater hose that is located on passenger side but have yet not installed it. Also befor when I’d have the heater on my A/C compressor use to cycle on and off and now it just stays off even if I have the air conditioner on. This is driving me crazy cuz all it does is blow cold air out the vents. Do you think I have to get a new heater control and low compression valve that’s on the confessor ? Someone please help

There are a few door actuators. You will have to find out the location of which one is bad in order to replace. I would discuss with a private certified mechanic. Im not a big fan of the dealership. Ask for a diagnostic and tell them to physically show where the issue is.

What does this blend door go to
@GTX10

The blend door is a small motor that actually opens and closes certain vents that control airflow.

I'm having a problem where I hear a whistling noise and my ac blows colder and then it blows just air and then you hear the whistling noise and it blows cold again and it just does that over and over.
@GTX10
@GTX10 4 жыл бұрын
@@shanenorman8774 I'm not sure I've heard any vehicle make a whistling noise before. Thats definitely new to me. Maybe a vent isnt closing all the way, which could make a whistling noise, just like a front door of a home would whistle if its windy outside.

I hate to tell you but you can change that actuator from the bottom in about 15 minutes. You don't have to go through the dash. You go from the bottom. It is VERY easy. Look at other videos on KZbin.
