How to change the cabin air filter on a 2015 Ford Escape

I’m no engineer, but it would seem to make sense to place the filter outside of the fan to keep the crap outside of the fan so just changing the cabin filter would solve the problem. It also might make it easier, but what do I know? I changed the cabin filter on my fiancé’s Escape this past weekend and it went about the way it did for you. I had a hard time getting the cover back in place and I wasn’t trying not to obstruct the camera.

Definitely a poor design, it would make sense to put the filter before the fan! I discovered that most of the stuff was from the cottonwood trees around here, I had to do it once again this year!

Had to replace my cabin filter after I was driving home one night. I was half way between work and home about 12 miles, at midnight, on the freeway... Scared the piss outta me! I had no idea what it was, I thought it was my engine with how loud it was! Thankfully made it home and my neighbor took a look at the car and told me it was the filter, was as black the interior so I bought a new one.

This is very true! The battery is a PAIN to be replaced because of its placement. Any other car can get it replaced at any shop, but because of the placement of this one, a bunch of other parts need to be removed to gain access to the battery, and only the dealer can do it.

@@Jess_Smith0903 Jiffy Lube was able to do mine but they charged me like $100 extra...the dealership I bought it from reimbursed me since they sold it to me with a crap battery but still...Wish I'd known this before buying an escape

This is ridiculous. The cars from the 70s and 80s didn't have cabin air filters. What a pain in the ass.

It is! My air conditioning worked much better after changing it and vacuuming out all the stuff clogged up in the fan. Where I live there are a lot of cottonwood trees and all that stuff gets sucked right into the fan. Most vehicles have cabin air filters now.
