How To Change The Draw Cord On A QAD HDX Ultra Rest

Did mine with rest still on my bow. Used a 7/64 allen wrench to remove set screw that's what holds your cord in place. Used 60X Custom Flo Green BCY #24 D Loop string 10 inch in length, heated one end to form a point rolling it to a point with my fingers. Removed old cord. Then, put pointed end of the new string into small hole and pushed right thru. Melted 2nd end and pulled to just top of small hole. Replaced set screw. Done in less then 3 minutes. It's that simple, guys😉 ... absolutely no reason to do what he shows, but you can if you please 🤣

I'm assuming you mean how do you disconnect the cord from the cable on the bow, since the video shows how to disconnect the cord from the rest? That depends on how the cord is connected to the cable. Some people use the football clamp that comes with the rest, which means you simply unscrew the bolt holding the clamp together and then pull the cord free. Other people tie in the draw cord to the down cable on the bow, in which case, you'd have to put the bow in a press and then pull the cord through the cable to free it.

At some point, QAD made it easier to change the cord. I don't know if that was with the MXT or later. If the lever that you cock with your thumb on the MXT is rubber, then yes, it's the same. If it's plastic, then changing the cord requires only removing the holding screw to pull out the cord and replace.

Okay that’s what I found. The MXT has the plastic thumb and it simply goes through and the gets screwed on.

Yes you can.....the method is similar to what we've shown here, but a little different, naturally, since the parts are not identical between the two rests.
