Great video John. I like the way Indian did the oil filter, makes it's so much easier. I was lucky when I bought my 1100 Vstar it had the oil filter relocation kit installed on it, thank the gods. It made it a 1 beer job from a 3 beer job. Cheers bro and Takeiteass

Thanks Bernbo. Yeah the whole job is pretty straight forward. You don’t need much to be able to do an oil change on this bike. Truth be told I always took my Shadow in to the shop for service, but I figured it can’t be that different than a car and I have always worked on my cars. I was surprised at how easy it was.

@@YoungAmericanOutback for sure, you will save a ton of money doing your own maintenance. It's all pretty straight forward. I actually have mine in the shop right now my starter clutch failed, apparently it's a common thing on my bike. Can't wait to get it back it's been weeks now.

@@bernbo Saving money was the biggest factor in doing my own maintenance. Sorry to hear about your bike in the shop. You’re missing out on some prime time riding season. This weekend we are still up in the 80’s. I’m hoping to head out for a while tomorrow. The Bike’s, Blues, and BBQ was supposed to start tomorrow but it was canceled due to Covid. I hear a lot of people are going out anyway so we’ll see how it goes. Haha.

Also before putting the Oil Filter on pour just a bit of oil into the new filter before screwing it back on, this will help the priming stage of the bikes oil system and prevent unwanted wear over the course of future oil changes. Great video I may buy one soon! Have fun keep the rubber on the road ;)

That is a solid tip! Thanks man.

Great DIY video! I’d suggest dropping the filter first so that if you did drop it in the pan it wouldn’t be full of oil to splash out. Just my opinion. Enjoyed the video as I’m considering purchasing the 2021 Scout Bobber 60.

Bro can i use another oil on my indian scout like the Liqui Moly or Motul 10W-60????
@YoungAmericanOutback3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I personally would have no problem using another oil especially if the warranty is up. Indian is not an oil company and I highly doubt they have a secret oil recipe for Indians. With that said I’m just some dude on the internet and not a mechanic.

How and where to discard the flushed out oil & old filter ?
@YoungAmericanOutback3 жыл бұрын
Here in the US you can take your used oil to where ever you bought the new oil from and the will probably dispose of it for free.
