That little red thingi in the oil filter , what you do just with the screw driver just push it to other side just like light bulb switch, what it does drain some oil without removing the entire filter and once the drip is done then you rotate the oil filter out , this way you not gonna have flood of oil coming out .its just 2 steps for clean drain.

Thanks for this video good job. Had a question about oil filter housing leaking like crazy in Mine. All housing seals are installed properly?

great video! very helpful

That's a spring loaded valve to empty the oil in the filter housing before removal to avoid that oil from spilling all over your oil pan and electrical components in the way.

for your 2008 jetta, does your gas cap ever tighten all the way so u cant tighten it anymore or does it keep on turning, bc mine never stops turning and im wondering if its how the car was made or if its an issue
@stevewilson78575 жыл бұрын
The cap is supposed to keep turning and clicking. It allows air pressure to escape.

Is this for a 2.5L engine

Thanks for the well-made video. I appreciated that you documented everything you did while speeding up the bits in between. Any chance you could add a link to the oil filter removal tool you used?

Great video. Very detailed and showed everything I once had questions on. Would this work the same on a 2009 Jetta?
@billydeane27906 жыл бұрын
Billy Catechis, yes this will work on your Jetta.

How many liters did you use?

the oil you used is the recomended for that model? 5w 30? or why did you use it?
@TampaAries6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use 5W30, 5W40, or 0W40 all three is okay to put inside a 2008 Jetta, even says so on the car manual. Well 0W40 is basically the same as 5W40.

Great vid bud 👊🏾 Been thinking of starting to do my own oil changes on my Jetta so thanks for posting. One question, what do you call the oil filter housing remover and where do you normally get hold of one?
@mandmptv6 жыл бұрын
It looks like the filter comes with two gaskets. I assume you only need one of the two?
@Finsup21005 жыл бұрын
Yes. The one you need has the small tab on the end of it. Similar to the one already on your car.

What tools do I need??

This looks crazy easy! Why am I paying Jiffy Lube $100 a pop to do this when I can do it?? Nice video. What do you do with the old oil? It takes 6.4 quarts I think. Can you list all items/part numbers/cost?
@billydeane27907 жыл бұрын
Personally, I wait to till I have a couple of jugs of oil and then I take it to autozone because they take your old oil for free. I have listed out the parts you will need in the description with links to where I got mine. let me know if you have any other questions!

The oil filter housing nipple is for draining the oil as well. Weird design
