I charge my Seal at home using 6.3KW solar panels. I load balance the charge from 9 am to follow the power increase as the sun comes up from 6 amp to 16 amp ... 12 to 1 pm. My system powers the house, charges the car then when the EV battery is full, charge the house batteries for night time. All in after powering my house I have about 50km per day of free motoring....never used a charger outside my home.

Thank you for watching and sharing. Definitely a great way to use the power of the sun in reducing your charging costs. I plan to do a series of videos covering solar charging in partnership with some solar specialists so stay tuned for those videos too.

How do you do that Martin? I was looking at connecting the BYD to Home Assistant but there does not appear to be any integrations that support that functionality for BYD.

@@nickchandler1389 It's not integrated. The ABB wall charger I have for my EV supplies current between 6 and 32 Amp at specified time intervals. I programmed the wall unit to charge from 8.30 to 10 am @ 6amps, then it increases to 8 amp from 10 to 11 am, then 12 amps from 11 to 1pm and the same on the way down in the afternoon. This works if it is a clear day, if there are clouds the wall charger follows the same charging scheme but draws power from the grid to make up for the shortfall from my panels. It's not ideal but it works.

Some chargers now will give only what your panels produce above your house usage. That way you never take from the street.
