Ignore the figures in this video I.e 57% full to 83% full in 19 mins. This video was recorded in two halves as I ran put of battery first time 🙈

It's so refreshing to find essential info like this presented in a way that doesn't imply you need a PhD in electronics to drive an EV. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You! Recently I've met several folk, new to EVs, who are struggling just as much as I did when I started out a few years ago. These lost souls have been sold an EV and then sent packing by the dealer without a clue what to do next. Scary. Videos like this would be an absolute Godsend to them. What better way to Save the Planet from EV rage and total gridlock? Please keep them coming!

Great information about the £30 pending payment, which can easily worry people until you understand what it's doing!!

To be honest nearly all pay at pump petrol/derv pumps also do this these days so no big deal. Some standard fuel pumps actually hold a lot more too. Some in my area hold up to £100 which is madness in my opinion.

Really enjoying your videos. One of the things I would like to see is a uniform design for these charging units. Basically so you don't have to read a raft of instructions everytime you want to charge. Like petrol pumps are pretty much exactly the same everywhere.

Totally agree Welsh Guy. Standardisation is definitely need as well as simplicity. Having a different app for different providers can be a headache but I think most are moving towards contactless card payments now. Really please to hear you enjoy my videos, thank you for the feedback, Tina 😁

I agree with you. Also they should all be simple contactless tap and pay instead of some you have to faff around with apps and or various RFID cards.

Hi Marek, thanks for your message. I'm sorry I'm not sure how much it cost as I ended up having to film this video in two parts. Sorry.

If someone plugs in from the same machine while you’re charging, will your charge rate reduce?
@PlanetSavingNovice2 жыл бұрын
Hello knightlore, thanks for your question. Funnily enough I've never been charging up at the same time as someone else, but I would say no, it won't reduce the charge rate
@Knightlore102 жыл бұрын
@@PlanetSavingNovice Interesting. I was assuming that it wouldn’t be possible to start a charge from one of these machines already in use but I could well be wrong on that 😊

A typical EV battery weighs about 500 kilograms. While there are dozens of variations, such a battery typically contains about 13 kilos of lithium, 13 kilos of cobalt, 30 kilos of nickel, 55 kilos of graphite, 45 kilos of copper and about 200 kilos of steel, aluminum, and various plastic components. Looking upstream at the ore grades, one can estimate the typical quantity of rock that must be extracted from the earth and processed to yield the pure minerals needed to fabricate that single battery: • Lithium brines typically contain less than 0.1% lithium, so that entails some 12,500 Kilos of brines to get the required lithium. • Cobalt ore grades average about 0.1%, thus nearly 15,000 kilo of ore to be dug up. • Nickel ore grades average about 1%, thus about 3,000 kilos of ore. • Graphite ore is typically 10%, thus about 500 kilos per battery. • Copper at about 0.6% in the ore, thus about 12,500 kilos of ore per battery. In total then, acquiring just these five elements to produce the single EV battery requires mining and processing about 45,000 kilos (45 tonnes!) of ore. Consider the amount of energy required to get at this ore - namely the amount of material you must first dig up to get to the ore. Depending on ore type and location, overburden ranges from about 3 to 20 tons of earth removed to access each ton of ore. And we haven't even made the car yet - or found the rare earth materials required for the motor(s) Saving the planet? What a joke. Extracting oil out the ground is a much cleaner and kinder process to the planet - a heck of a lot more efficient too - you get to use practically all the raw-material you've spent tons of energy on moving - not a tiny proportion of it.

LONDONSTEVELEE; Could you please explain why you've ignored that the largest consumer of Cobalt around the world is the oil refining industry? Does it have anything to do with de-sulphurisation of crude oil into petrol/kerosene/diesel etc...? Is there a joke in there somewhere?

Im new to the EV world and have only charged my car on the octopus overnight tariff at 7p pkw. I am petrified charging the car at these type of charging stations as most have apps. If they were all contactless it would be far easier😂

That’s a lot of money they take out of your bank . Whilst they estimate how much money you owe .

Agreed Edward. It was quite a surprise first time. It wasn't taken out thought, just 'pending' and then they took out out money I actually owed. Thanks for your comment, Tina

£30 wow for wha it is that to much
@eminsoyler19052 жыл бұрын
its not actually £30 that is a pending payment like when you buy petrol at a pump, it checks you have the maximum amount they can charge available, when you tap to end it it charges the real amount
