forget to ask you if I have 2012 Honda civic I be using the same can that you use in this video ? also most peoples who do this at home do not the system to vaccum out the system before they can recharge...
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, 2012 will be very similar. You don't have to vacuum it out, I was only doing it to show how little was left in the system. The only way to really know how much is to vacuum, but I knew that if I said in the video that there is only 1 or 2 oz, someone is going to say how do I know, so that's why I did the vacuum to show that.

This is a great thing to be able to do yourself. I’ve saved hundreds since I learned how. The R12a works great for me, it’s cheap, it’s environmentally friendly, and it’s widely available. 😎

Did you need to worry about pulling oil out when the vacuum was connected? Never knew R12a existed. Thanks
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks for the comment, no oil gets pulled out. The pressure is let out through the machine in a controlled way slowly, so it can't come blowing out and carry oil with it. During vacuum the old refrigerant is removed so slowly that it can't carry the oil with it. Once a big vacuum is drawn any water vapour boils at room temp and is slowly carried away. Thanks for the comment and hope you are enjoying your Saturday :)

Hi, I would like to know why I can't get a vacuum above 25 HG ?
@GarageKing7 ай бұрын
Hi There, 30HG is a full vacuum, absolutely no molecules, nothing, kinda like space, so the power required to get right to 30 is pretty impossible. If you have a cheaper pump that's probably why. Also if your ac system has a leak that's another reason because air is going to want to enter the system. I have a commercial Snap On with a large pump and I can't get to 30, It will do over 29, but it really crawls slowly once I hit 29.

Did it get down into the 40s?
@GarageKing Жыл бұрын
Not on the day I did it, and I doubt any system could. The day I did it I remember it being super hot and made mention of that in the video. The hotter it is outside, the less your AC can cool as its all relative. If you turn your AC on, and its 60F outside you would have no problem getting down to 40, but the day I did the video it was in the high 90's so much harder to get down to 40. Also I can't remember if the system was on re-circ. I doubt it, and if so it would have been pulling hot ambient air in.

Ok, so.. for the average car owner, how do you purge/pull a vacuum in your driveway if you dont have an AC Reclamation machine and AC Gauges?
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment, in a nutshell you don't....... The reason I did that in the video was to show that if you AC is warm you really don't have much left in there. If I were to say in the video there is probably only an oz or 2, then someone will comment that there is no way to know. So my reason to evacuate during the video was to show there is only an oz or 2 (not much) If you have a tiny amount left in then no moisture can get in the system as its still pressurized (and slowly leaking out)

If your AC is not working because it is out of gas it means it has a leak and you should take it to a mechanic to get it leak checked and not recharge it yourself with a can.
@GarageKing2 жыл бұрын
Very true, but some people don’t have the means to spend $1000 or more to fix their car, they just can’t do it. Or perhaps they have an older car that’s really not worth much, and a $20 can might get them through the summer. Plus this stuff is environmentally friendly so no damage is being done to the environment. I think it’s worth a try. If it leaks out after a week then you know the leak is big and you have to take it in and pay the piper, and if you can’t afford a mechanic then no AC for you. I hear what you are saying brother, and thanks for the comment.
