Every time I hire an electrician or HVAC person, they often just do the job good enough to leave as fast as they can and collect $$$. I've learned much about fixing appliances and replacing components around the house and saved thousands in the process. Great video.

Thanks man! Your video was the best help. I have the same tester and I went out and bought a new tester just because I couldn’t find a video that showed what setting to use on this meter. I’m going to go return the multimeter i bought lol Thankfully I saw your video before I opened it. Thanks again bud.

I have the 600. I love it. It blows my mind how many people have no interest in this. I went all in 8 years ago and I do quite well. I encourage anyone who is watching this to learn as much as you can. Ditch your $18 an hour job, go make $500 a day.

I'm a DIY guy and got confused with an old amrad blower motor capacitor that had a red dot on one side, but the new one had no red dot. The connections on that side of the new capacitor instead had a white grommet, versus the old one that had two black grommets. Sorry for such a noob question, but what does that mean?

Sticker on capacitor also gives the plus/minus range, which on this one appears to be 5%. So the range is 52.5 to 57.5

You assume the labels are still on the CAP, I have a rusted CAP with no label, the wiring digram does not have the uf for CAP. The system is a Concept 1000 scu10e30a-4 s/n 1603b22199 it is still filled with R22 oil. when I measured the old CAP I got 5.4uf on the fan side and 10.3uf on the compressure side, which seem low. any advise?????

There should be just one round capacitor on the outside compressor? Correct?
@jdtools6038 Жыл бұрын
Sometimes there might be 2 capacitors that are linked with a jumper wire. Even on blower motors. Also, there might be a jump starter kit for compressor that looks like a capacitor too and wired into it as well. But should be black. But for the most part yes only one.

@jdtools6038 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I think you mean capacitor. But, it's still good.
@Garth2011 Жыл бұрын
Very true however, if your capacitor is reading below the rated mfd but within the tolerance of 10%, I would replace it. If the meter reading is 2 or 3 mfd below, I'd keep it but any more than that simply suggests it is on its way out and since they are not all that expensive to replace, its much better on the electric motors and compressors to run caps that are fresh. The worst idea in replacing capacitors is to source less expensive brands in the $15 or less category for a dual run type because they are likely China products that many folks in the industry call Chinesium. They will not last long, maybe 2 years or so. Buy the good brand that are made in the USA such as AMRAD, MARS etc. since you are doing the same amount of work and most of us would rather not do it over in just 2 years or so due to a cheap cap from Red China.

The proper way to discharge a capacitor, it to put your meter on DC and it will drain the capacitor properly. Doing it his way is very very dangerous.
@matt123231 Жыл бұрын
"The multimeter isn't used directly to discharge the stored energy of a capacitor. Instead, people use it to measure the voltage and power of the capacitor to know whether it is fully released or not." The proper way is a 1000ohm resistor, the Industrial course teaches to discharge with a screwdriver while de-energized and still wired before you touch it. Ive discharged thousands of Cap's this way over the last 36yrs without issue.
