Hey can you answer this why are there so many terminals for the same connection ? Like why 4 connections on the "C" or common?
@Partysize2
@Partysize2 2 ай бұрын
@@dkat1108 I believe it is for convenience, because the multi-terminal capacitors can more easily connect from different directions to satisfy direction and distance variations of the various models of AC units. There are rare cases where the ground is used as a take-off point to ground another nearby component. Also, sometimes the capacitor can be mounted sideways, and this multi-terminal set-up can reach wires that would otherwise be difficult. There may also be commercial applications for the capacitor that are not specific to HVAC applications that make use of more terminals, for example to double capacitance in parallel configurations. Special problems also arise if a certain capacitor configuration is not available, for example replacing individual run and start capacitors with a single run-start capacitor where you will be dealing with a different wiring scheme. I have seen some fairly desperate "fixes" probably related to perceived emergencies, such as ill fitting capacitors just hanging from the wires, not good..

Thank you. Just got a non working cooling system with 100+ temp in Texas. Checked your video and found that it is the capacitor that doesn't have any reading for both. Ordered one and hopefully it will fix the problem and bring the cooling air back. I will update in 2 days once I complete the replacement.

I am a female and love DIY. My air conditioner fan stopped running even though my air was coming out (hot!) After research, I needed to find the capacitor and meter read it. This explained everything to me. I bought a replacement capacitor and am sitting in an air-conditioned house again. Did I say I live in Florida where it was in the 90's when my air cut out???!!

Your verbal description is useful and correct. However in using your clamp meter you positioned the test leads for the fan capacitor as you verbally described the process, but when doing the herm to common test you did not put your leads correctly on those two connectors. However verbally you did say what to do correctly. Otherwise, can useful video ...thank you for refreshing my mind .

thank you. Think your the only one who talks about the +5 saying its a 2in1... Everyone I have called, etc had no idea what that meant. I have a capacitor for my pool motor that says 35+10uf +/- 6%. All pool places were telling me that a 35uf was what I needed, but didn't know what the +10uf was. Glad I didn't buy from them. Again, thank you. Now, is there a difference between capacitors for AC or Pool pump motors? The look identical and ratings are the same.

I'm a mechanical engineer who always reluctant to test electrical issue for some reason. recently i have to check capacitor 350VAC(50/60hz), 6/25uF where installed 1ph 220v EHP outdoor(condensing) unit. 1. when i check voltage, do i have to position AC or DC on multimeter switch? because the capacitor makes me confuse as a battery. 2. what if not release the voltage before test uF then multimeter must be broken or explode? please let me know. Thanks again.
@JumpermanTech
@JumpermanTech 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, glad you enjoyed this video. As far as checking voltage, I'd advise not to go that route. The best way to check any capacitor is to turn off the power, confirm there is no power, discharge the capacitor for safety and disconnect the wires to isolate the capacitor. From there, set your meter to microfarads and check with the instructions shown in this video. Thanks for watching & subscribe for new videos every week🔧⚡️
