Excellent Video! .. Very good overview of piston rings and gapping with giving folks ideas of tools to use. Danny did a great job on this overview and now a subscriber of his videos.

Thanks for showing and sharing, also that was a good point on if you filing ring gap sizes to just push down top ring and follow by the second, as many videos ives seen I haven't seen anyone that did it this way, so great job!!!

I thought the second ring gap was supposed to be larger than the top ring gap ?

Your correct The method shown here is incorrect, it was once correct but is an outdated method now

No. His method is right for a stock street engine. The top ring is exposed to more heat, the reason for the bigger gap. Performance engines need more on second to get rid of ring flutter at high speed. Total waste of time on your every day car. Realize your wearing out your rings before their time. Hot rod engines are not 100,000 mile engines. If you're running machine shop make sure your customer knows this. They WILL use oil. I wish people would understand this. Your modifying an engine. It's NOT stock! Your basically experimenting with an engine. Anything other than stock specs is experimenting.
