Thanks. You can try cleaning lens of lottery machine with a cotton bud. And also tell your manager or boss to complain about it to lottery people. It’s annoying when you are busy and barcode doesn’t scan.

Don’t think you can cash it in by yourself unless you want to send it to camalot(national lottery office) You can check lottery online though.

If you have seen a scratch card, it has a long number at front of the card you can only see it once you have scratched the card. Last four digits of this long number are in 4 boxes.

@@fernlew8828 that is a verification number, that is different for every card and it is to confirm that the front of the card matches with both the back of the card (The long number starts with the 'game' number, then the 'pack' number, the the last three numbers on the long barcode are the 'ticket' number in that pack) with the win that is recognised by the lottery HQ as they will also have records of all what should be wins or not and the 4 digits are used as a passcode that verifies that the card is actually scratched ort not, (you will notice the long number isn't always printed at the same place under the coating either - to prevent fraud etc by retailers trying to discreetly scratch a 4 digit code under the coating, then replace it back in the box afterwards (if they scan it enter the 4 digit code, then try to resell the losers etc)
