Let say I need to adjust my ride height 2 inches. How many inches do I need to adjust at the spring to get that 2 inches?
@JohnnyMoseley8 ай бұрын
When measuring the front X3 I am confused by adding or subtracting an inch. Vid states that the location is an inch lower than the optimal measuring point but he states to subtract an inch from measurement to determine ride height. Wouldn't you need to add an inch to determine ride height? If the tape says 13.5" then my current ride height would be 14.5" and I adjust preload based on that?

So a xp w/ 32” tires. 15 F 14 1/2 R it has a 3” lift and high clearance A rams. So I should be looking at 16 1/2 F And 16 R Is that correct
@hotrodvan17 ай бұрын
I have the same lift and wondered the same thing. I just adjusted my ride height and I'm at 17 1/4" in the front now. It was 18". I might bring it down a little more even yet.

How about lowering the ride height for better cornering and more plush / comfortable ride? I have a rzr 1000 s with fox podium 2.0 and think they are way to stiff even at softest click. I had same car with walker evans and they were a dream very plush and confortable, everytime i needed it i just adjusted the stiffness with the clicks.
@ShockTherapyllc Жыл бұрын
Ride height is tricky. Lower it and rail corners. Yes. But depending on the shocks you can run the piston in the wrong zone internally. Lowering can make it stiff. Raising can make it soft. Opposite from common sense I know. Most of the plush or stiffness is inside the shock combined with a ride height choice. Not a simple thing. Great question.

I have always wondered why you don't just give a measurement of exposed shock shaft to measure rather than having to measure the tires and such to get a ride height?
@ShockTherapyllc3 жыл бұрын
That would be a better way but you can’t measure it properly with the coil spring, divider and sometimes a raised spring perch. We had more issues with customers and bent tape measures that way.

Remove the bracket lift and go with our notes. Just add your tire height change. Should be about 15”

With regards to a 2021 can-am XDS x3 max...with those base height numbers....is that in a safe zone to keep axle CV boot temps in a happy place? Also on the front measurement location, you said to subtract an inch but since its lower then the real location??? Is it not more accurate to say it is 1 inch higher which is why you subtract an inch?
@ShockTherapyllc3 жыл бұрын
At our ride height numbers your CVS will be fine. We race them there. Fir a more accurate location description check out our spring kit installation video fir your XDS. Max. Or any X3 install vid. FF to the end and check your locations in detail 👍

Stock springs yes. Our spring kits no.

How important is your axle angle, what is to much after adjustment and settling?
@ShockTherapyllc3 жыл бұрын
It’s only an issue if it’s too much all the time. This only happens if your ride height is too high. If you follow our guidelines you won’t have an issue. But let’s assume you didn’t. If you ran your UTV 2” or more above our recommended heights then the cvs would run hotter. If you run your car harder than most the that heat will continue until the boots expand like a balloon and melt causing cv failure. If your UTV is too high but you drive slow (mud) it’s not an issue. If your height is correct abd you drive hard or race it’s not an issue.

Why wouldnt we measure control arm angle instead of ride height since there are so many variables such as tire squish surface and other things that could affect ride height?
@ShockTherapyllc3 жыл бұрын
Your right. But aftermarket control arms make this hard. Also one degree of are agile can be a lot of ride height. Not a good measuring way fir the average customer. Shock length is best but also hard to get right with a tape measure

Which specific measurements are you referring to? That way we can give you a more detailed answer.
@1993kramer3 жыл бұрын
@@ShockTherapyllc both front and back ride heights. Camera doesn't get close to either, and the description is vague and quick. In the front it says bottom of rear a arm mount, but that could be interpreted a few different ways and if 1/2" of ride height makes a big difference it should be specific. Same with the back, specifically where do you measure to??? Bottom of radius rod mount or actual bottom of skid plate. Both will give different readings. This is where written directions with detailed pictures would be much more helpful than a KZbin video
