Great product! I've mounted a gauge permanently to my tractor, linked to the "raise FEL" hose. So when I do max out the lifting capacity, I can confirm my Case is to spec with 1300 psi (Yes, that is low!). But the best function is to estimate the load being lifted too. The value is only good when I am rising it from and close to the ground, which calculation is as follows: (PSI reading -350) x 2 = lbs lifted. Although the 2 factor is a rounded number, the exact value is close enough for estimation. That is just luck the conversion factor gave that simple number, as it was based on triangulation of forces, leverage, size & number of cylinder, etc. Thanks!
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe! Yes, the PSI is low, but I’m guessing the gallons per minute flow rate is decent and your cylinder bores are larger to make up for the low PSI. I’m not surprised you have a permanent pressure gauge on your tractor and have worked out the equation to calculate the load on your FEL in pounds. Of course you did, your’e and engineer! LOL! Thanks for watching!

I do have 7gal/min, which is not too bad, but the bore is still 2 inches in diameter. The difference is that the stroke is longer... Beauty of hydraulics!

Thanks Martin. Shimming myB2650 was a breeze as well. Occasional testing is good, as the pressure spring can weaken over time. Bolt-on has all the shims one will need to maintain factory specs. Warning,be prepared for the “it’s ok to over pressure the system” group should you make the follow-up video 😎 Take care my friend.

Both my old 2501 and my new 3902 hydraulics were under specs! I bought the shim kit off eBay for $18 (already had a gauge) I went 250 psi higher than spec! (Right about 2500 psi) I rarely use max lift pressures so not concerned with damaging the hydraulic system …But if I do need it ..I know it’s there! I do need ballast when lifting something that heavy. Some where around the 1300-1350 lbs area! Before it would only lift 1100 lbs or so. Great video as always.

Very useful video. I have a L39 Kubota which I am currently starting to test hydraulic pressures. I am wondering if there is a master PRV at the pump outlet as well as at each control lever?
@DIYMyWay

Glad you think so! There should be a master PRV for sure. I believe most hydraulic implements like FELs and backhoes have their own PRVs for each pair of spool valves. Mine do, anyway. Thanks for watching!

How's she goin'? David at Pale Horse Outdoors is a pretty nice channel eh!!! He does a nice job with his videos. This was a nice video too!! This is a great idea for testing the hydraulic pressure. I know on my Massey Ferguson GC2300 it seems like it doesn't have the power it did when it was new. Perhaps the hydraulic pressure is just low. Thanks for sharing this method of testing. Take care!!!
@DIYMyWay

Hi Mike! Sounds like you should check the pressure. Those springs in the pressure relief valve can get fatigued over time so you might find you need some shims for it. Thanks for watching!

If I am trying to find the proper RPM to idle the engine at for a pto hydraulic driven attachment, would this tool function well to test and find out which RPM is going to meet my needs? This is kind of a DIY project where the attachment isnt exactly designed to be an attachment for a tractor but does require hydraulic pressure. I know the limits of my attachment but I am struggling to find specific information on the pressure outputs.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 7 ай бұрын
Supposedly, the hydraulic pump pressure is not very dependent on the engine RPM. The engine RPM does affect the gallons per minute of hydraulic fluid that flows. The max pressure is controlled of the relief valve of your tractor’s hydraulic system. Your attachment SHOULD have a pressure relief valve of it’s own to protect it from over pressure but if not, you should add one. Will it be running off some rear remote ports or 3rd function valve?
