When I lived in California I tan the test on a 1970 Toyota Corona....the inspector said it was the cleanest running 70 he had ever seen and passed...when I was changing out my exhaust a few months later...I noticed a big haping hole on the front of the muffler. From the exhaust tip side the muffler looked great....all I said was no wonder...lmao!

Do 49 state direct flow cats have a better flow than stock?
@RichardSmith-ic1zw4 жыл бұрын
A regular catalytic converter works by having the exhaust gasses flow through a ceramic honeycomb structure that is coated in various rare metals. ... While not exactly "cheap," high-flow catalytic converters are specifically designed to meet or exceed OE quality and performance standards without sacrificing flow rate.

I'm in Texas & have a 2002 Blazer Zr2, 300k miles on her that I use daily on my property for hunting. It's not the smoothest driving out in the woods for sure. I heard a rattling noise & figured out it was coming from my Cat, which I ignored. I took the car to a shop & they scanned it & showed no issues at all. A week later, I was pulling my trailer & noticed my Blazer was bogging down, shifting odd & getting hot fast! I was told by 2 shops that I needed new Spider Injectors, coil, distributor, cap, rotor, plugs or wires. Oh, also an ICM! I was like wtf? I went to my trusted shop & they said all I needed was a new Cat. I found a MagnaFlow Universal Same size as the stock Cat for $100 at AutoZone. It's being installed now. Sorry, direct fits for $600 is way above my pay scale. Can't wait for my fuel mileage to go up from 10mpg to 17mpg. (I hope) she runs smoothly without a single miss before this happened & it's has all new parts discribed above. She has 300k miles & not a single rattle, very clean & the best $3k I've ever spent on a used garage kept vehicle.

49 state emissions vehicle is called a federal emission vehicle and California state emission vehicle is California certified 49 state legal is referring to federal emissions and California emissions is California emissions

California always has 2 times to 3 times more emissions parts including catalytic converters and o2 sensors with dual exhaust and even single exhaust were a federal emission 49 state vehicle normally has 1 catalytic converter or 2 for dual exhaust and 1 to 4 o2 sensors California normally has up to 6 o2 sensors on some vehicles and could have up to 4 catalytic converters 2 per exhaust pipe
