Got my syrian hamster a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't be happier, he's incredibly tame, shows little to no signs of aggression, eats from my hand, loves to lay on my chest while I read or I'm on my phone, sleeps in my hands time to time, loves to be picked up etc. It takes a while for them to get used to, but when you feed your hamster a great diet, take care of them to your fullest potential, give them more than enough space in their enclosure and lots of toys and wheels, they will eventually become extremely tame.

We went to pets at home and saw a huge Syrian hamster in a tiny enclosure. She had hardly any room and was pawing frantically at the glass. We complained to the staff and said she would be moved. We went back the next day to check. Sadly she was still there. We had bought a Russian dwarf hamster several months previous as it had been brought back as it was a "biter". We were not looking to get another hamster. However we couldn't leave her there. She came home with us. Spoilt rotten, enormous enclosure and lots of great food, she does however have problems interacting. I think she has development issues because of her time at Pets at Home. We just do things her way and she is starting to progress. Wouldnt swap her for the world. Oh and the "biter" we adopted...is one of the most gentlest souls u can meet. It breaks my heart to think of all the hamsters, that do not get the love, care and attention they need. Sorry just to add, the hamsters are in separate rooms before anyone thinks they are in the same enclosure 😳😳😳

Just to avoid any confusion - at 1:48, KumaQQ is talking about Syrian hamsters. It's perfectly normal for dwarf hamsters to be well below 100g (around 40g to 60g). Also, I just want to add that rescuing or adopting is another great way to get a hamster. Although they likely won't have the best genetics, a good rescue organisation will help pair you up with a hamster that is suitable for you temperament wise.

I just bought a Pedegree hamster, he’s chubbier, much more physically resilient and doesn’t make a mess, and only nips never drawing blood. This applies even when he’s being handled against his will if I have to clean the cage I’m not gonna sit there when I’m in a hurry with a packed schedule - and wait for him to crawl into a box. He eats in one spot and he goes in another. Seems like the pedigrees look like the yellow lab of hamsters, so to speak.

Hello Kuma! I am wondering, I've seen a lot of "hamster behavior" videos lately, but I've never seen any of them touch on the hamsters "buzzing" or "vibrating". Have you experienced this? Almost all of my Syrian hamsters have done it. I recently got my first pedigree hamster, and he does it so much!
