I'd like to hear more about your experience in residency ( most memorable patient interactions in dermatology or even in your off-service rotations or your most scary moments in residency), failure in medical school or residency..etc... So many people do it! Even older attendings have told me they wished they would’ve applied to a competitive field they were interested in as Med students. Don’t sell yourself short !

What other specialties did you consider along with derm?

Family Med and ob/gyn originally when applying to Med school. Family Med was no longer interested in by beginning of my Med school. Then it was Internal med and obgyn. After I did the rotation with ob/gyn, I knew for sure it wasn’t for me . Internal Med was interesting as a student ... I figured I wanted to be a specialist though, so thought I could specialize in GI or heme/onc but ultimately picked derm
