What is Camber? What is Rocker? Flat? Hybrid Camber? When choosing a snowboard, the most important feature to look at is the camber profile. The bend of your board has the strongest affect on the way it rides, so we made this video to clear up all the jargon and help you find the best profile for you. In general, camber boards are best for aggressive riders because they give you more pop, power, and edge control. Reverse camber (rocker) boards lift the contact points out of the snow for easy edge to edge turning and playful catch free riding. This makes them perfect for beginners, casual riders, and park rats. Flat and hybrid camber boards blend the best of both worlds to give you all around boards for the whole mountain.

That's when snowboard starts getting really fun! I think you would really like a hybrid camber such as the Defenders of Awesome or the CAPiTA Mercury because it still has camber in-between the feet for pop and aggression. If you don't like riding switch and don't care for the park, maybe look at some directional options as it makes turning easier and riding feel more stable.

Ok, you asked for it :). Here is my question: I am mostly one direction (not in the band)...goofy, a bit too old for all them switch tricks. I was looking for a Setback Carver profile, when I google "Best setback carver boards 2023" I almost always get google returning me "carver" boards..which is not really what I am looking for. So how do I find a good amount of setback carvers listed, from which I can do more research? Massively would appreciate an answer, from anyone :). Cheers

Basically I wan't it to ride fast and go upwind better. Which one would be better choice? The riding position is different than snowboarding - front leg is straight, back leg is bended, and you ride on only one edge.

Best video on this topic found till now. But I have a question. Would u recomend a rocker-camber-tocker profile to a begginer? I mean, I've already did snowboard before, but I still have some trouble in some basic moves like, switching from a edge to edge of the board, doing c turns. As my first board I would like one that allows me to do a bit of everythig so I can find what I like more, but didn't understood if with a hybrid board it would be easy to learn the moves I've mention above. Thanks you

I would absolutely recommend a hybrid rock-camber-rocker board for a beginner. With rocker on the nose and tail it will allow for easy turn initiation and basic moves like you described. It's really the best of board worlds with responsive camber between your feet for pop and stability at speed but with softer nose and tail for a playful and catch free ride.

@@tacticsboardshop Awesome, that makes me happy, couse I got in love with the "Jones Mountain Twin 202", that is a rocker-camber-rocker profile. Just have a doubt about the size. I always rent 155/158 cm boards. I felt like the 158 was a little bit less manovrable and more difficult to turn than the 155, but didnt understood if it was because of the size o the board model. the closest size of the Jones board that I found are 154 and 157. Which one would you recommend? I'm 5.11 ft and my weight is 154 lbs if this can help.

You are on the right path. The One Tree Hitter is definitely going to be a great all-mountain board that will hold a nice edge when you need it but also perform great in the powder. This was my first season and the first time I went I used a camber board and it was a nightmare. I pretty much rolled down the mountain for 6 hours. This time around I’m riding a rocker set up and dude the difference is unbelievable. The rocker boards leave a lot of room for error so even if you catch an edge you can still learn to pull yourself out of it. Rocker is the way to go for sure when you’re learning

Camber = Best for groomers, park, carving, and pop. Just not ideal in powder unless you set your stance back and ride a bigger board. Yes beginners might have a harder time learning on regular camber but they should learn the right way and not be a pussy about it. Flat Camber = Great option for All Round/All Mountain with a less catchy feel. Hybrid Camber = Not great at anything, but ok for everything. Reverse Camber = King of staying afloat in powder.
