You should choose best grade & type of engine oil (mobile) for your motorcycle (bike) & scooty (scooter). In an automobile, an engine oil is used to reduce the friction and ensure smooth functioning of the various parts in an engine. An internal combustion engine plays a pivotal role in the functioning of the car. It works because of the reaction between fuel and air, that is the oxidation of the fuel. An engine is made up of many parts that work in tandem to make sure that the vehicle keeps running.
An engine oil comes into play to maintain the smooth functioning of the various parts of an engine and to avoid friction between them. This is largely dependent on the thickness or, technically speaking, the viscosity of the motor oil.
Higher the viscosity of the oil, more thick it will be. Whereas, a lower value of oil viscosity signifies that the oil is less thick. Thickness of oil will affect its flow as oil with higher viscosity will flow slowly, while the oil that has lower viscosity will flow faster.

A gentle reminder to those who repeatedly asking which engine oil grade he/she should use?Just go and follow your owners manual to know which grade is best for your vehicle. 1) Myth:- People who says synthetic engine oil causes engine to leak oil Fact:- In older,poorly maintained engines, deposits and varnish can "paper over" worn,cracked seals.The improve detergent in synthetic oil sometimes remove these deposits and reveal their true condition,causing a leak.The oil didn't cause the problem,rather the seals were always in poor shape.A good synthetic engine oil,conditions seals and helps them remain pilable to prevent leaks.

Old engines are not manufactured with tight tolerances as the newer ones . There used to be lot of imperfections. For certain bikes the piston ring tolerance is good for thicker mineral oil but not for full synthetic oil and would get burned or reduce pre-maturely . Imperfections and gaskets sometimes are sealed by sludges , which are better cleaned by the detergent characteristics of FS oil resulting in oil leaks . Engine head gasket and all other gaskets (old models ) and seals were manufactured with the consideration of thicker oil . Though the newer bikes have better build , better tolerance level and can easily handle the super slick FS oil . When I use Motul 5100 on my old Yamaha FZ 16 , it can easily run for 2000-2500km . But when I use Motul 7100 FS oil , engine oil reduces to half in 2000km . I had rode the bike for more than 3 Lakh km and the bike can still reach 100 kmph with ease . I had rebuild the engine thrice , all the out of specs components are replaced . However I use Motul 7100 on my Ninja 300 without any issues and is a recommended oil for that vehicle . Any day FS is always a better oil than mineral oil , lasts longer , holds viscosity at higher temperatures, better detergent characteristics. I have used lot of FS oil on my various bikes and has a fair share of idea. Even my new KTM bikes consumes around 100ml of engine oil Motul 7100 per 2000km . Though Addinol and Amsoil works better and doesn’t reduce much .

Not all lower cc and old bikes can handle the super slick full synthetic oil . There will be oil leaks from various oil seals , clutch may slip . Lot of high performing synthetic/ racing oil are not JASO or API rated , shouldn’t be used on lower cc bikes . If the bike is running good on mineral oil then stick to it and drain in proper intervals . Bike will run good . Full synthetic oils are better for high compression, high revving engine . If that would have been absolutely required for the low end bikes then company would have recommended it .

No, its not like. There is no harm in using synthetic oil in low cc bike and scooter. The only thing to be taken care is if you change mineral oil at 2K, in synthetic you need to change at 3K. The only reason companies don't recommend is because of the price difference. Synthetic oils are almost 3 times more in price and the majority of users in 2 wheeler segment is of 97 to 124Cc. If they recommended to use fully synthetic then for common man its not affordable. But if you want to have a healthy engine then fully synthetic is highly recommend.

Have you heard the name of Bajaj 4S champion. These bikes was launched in 1996-97. I had purchased a 4s champion in 1998 and in those day in India no one used to use FS oil. That Mobil1 was the most leading brand in FS in India. In those day I started has started using the FS. In 2007 I upgraded my bike to another brand with higher Cc. Just because of a very smooth engine I didnt had to struggle to sell my bike. Hope you got my point. So I really don't agree to your perception...
