Thank You, Sir! I was using soft blade and soft rubbers, but recently switched to the hard rubber. I am still not used to it, but I am now clear that this is the best combination. Coach, I'm loving your videos and the way you explain it... simply and superbly...

Jaydev, What blade and rubbers are you using. Can you give your opinions of them? I have been experimenting with blades that emratthich suggests/ Here is something I found. If you are still interested in a blade I found a master blade maker in the Far East and bought a ALL/ALL+ blade that has excellent flex (the best I have found yet and I have bought a Stiga Allround Classic, Yinhe W6, OSP Expert and a Red+Black blade made for professionals who want lots of control). These are all very nice blades but I honestly feel that this blade from Indonesia is the best example of what emraththich suggested that we find. I bought one if you want one I can get you one for $80 plus shipping. Remember he is a master who makes one blade at a time. It takes him two weeks to make the blade by hand and then one to four weeks to arrive. If you provide your email address I will give you all the pictures and details. Here is what I have learned on rubbers. Friendship 729 FX Bluesponge (tabletennis11.com) is a rubber suggested by emratthich and I am ordering this rubber in 1.8 thickness to test. If you try this let me know what you think and I will let you know after I try it. I am also trying Galaxy/Yinhe Mercury 2 and it was pretty darn good. I feel the expensive euro and Japanese rubbers are a little better feeling but at 1/4 the price I am going to drill and practice and play with this while I develop more power and control. I also currently trying Gambler Zero rubber ($15. from Zeropong.com) for the backhand and I like this too. I think you have two choices. 1. Experiment with several rubbers emratthich suggests or pick one that he suggests and stick with it. I really think it makes just a small difference until we get to become expert players. If you have tried any of the blades or rubbers emratthich suggests or anything like them please comment your findings to me.

Hello.I'm very happy with the conclusion of this video, as I know now that I have a very good combination of blade and rubbers after 2 expensive mistakes, and its paying off in my training sessions and in matches. For those asking what are the benefits of flexible blades I will grab the definition of ttdb: Flexible Blades have a longer dwell time, generating more spin, they also perform well for mid distance looping, stiff blades are better for smashing and blocking, also stiff blades are in general more fast than flexible blades. For those asking what is a flexible blade: its a blade that is capable of "certain degree of bent during a full motion stroke" (imagine a bamboo tree), in contrast, stiff blades don't bent. My first blade, was a fast OFF blade - medium stiffness - and fast euro rubbers: Nittaku Acoustic Carbon Inner + Tibhar Evolution MX-S for FH and El-S for BH My second blade was a faster OFF+ blade - medium hard stiffness - and fast euro rubbers: Andro Treiber Z + Tibhar Evolution MX-P for BG and Donic Bluefire JP03 on FH They where both very nice and expensive blades, but i was loosing to much control and consistency on my strokes, those blades where not for my level, they where too fast, and my technique was stuck, this was also confirmed by my coach. I began the search for a nice blade, this time, I read a lot and saw a lot of videos, and make a lot of investigation on ttdb (You can compare the level of stiffness of a blade there and many more attributes like speed material hardness), and wrote a pair of forum topics here and there asking for advice. I also ask for advice to many coaches, including EmRat Tich (he replied by the way), and thought a lot in what i wanted... I want to develop a two winged looping - aggressive style with excellent technique like chinese players (I can only hope jajajaja). After many research i came to this conclusion: I needed a Flexible blade in the off- category with a medium hard wood on the outer plies + hard tacky Chinese rubbers, i needed an all wood blade then, as composite blades are stiffer. This would force me to correct my technique, and develop good full motion strokes, and would give me the control that i was lacking close to the table and on loops(due to the tackiness), so my third expensive blade is: A nittaku Violin with DHS hurricane 3 neo on BH and a DHS Skyline 3 neo on the FH, and its all I was dreaming it to be, after a month of training with it, I am a better player now (I'm still at intermediate level though jajaja), I sold my other blades and never looked back, playing with this set its a marvel, and my couch is very happy, thought more advanced players than me, told me that it is slow. I think this is because they are so much used to euro stile rubbers like tenergy that they became lazy to put their own energy on the ball, letting the rubbers to do all the job. If you are looking for a set that suits EmRat Tich descriptions, and want to develop an aggressive stile like chines ones, I would recommend this set( If you are more onto defending, smashing or chopping and want to keep going on that, don't buy a flexible blade by any means), if the Violin is too expensive for you, you can choose another flexible blades like Xiom Offensive S or Butterfly Primorac (Both of them are off-) and are much more cheaper, and if you want tacky rubbers more cheap than DHS ones, you can search for Friendship 729 or another brands Sorry for the long post, thanks for your advice EmRat Tich

Alexandre Hello¡, dude I live in Colombia, where do you think is more hard to get chinese rubbers, here or France?.There is a lot of online shops that deliver worldwide, I recommend you to look on table tennis 11, they are a very famous, and only shell 100% original products, they are located in Estonia, It would be easier for you, as both countries belong to the European Union.If you want a hard tacky rubber that is not Chinese, you can look for the Yasaka Rising Dragon rubber

revisiting this video 2 years later, I have few things to add on. The main difference is that hard rubber requires a lot of effort to do the shots with very little margin of error, while soft rubber is easy to use with a high margin of error. So yes I agree that using hard rubber is more beneficial to develop beginners techniques, but during matches, it is really easy to make a mistake if the technique is slightly wrong or when the player is out of position. At the beginner level, I'm sure most people would agree that using a rubber that can land everything easily would be a lot more fun. So to introduce beginners into the sport, stopping them from quitting the sport is the no. 1 priority. I would say first letting them have a soft rubber to have some fun, once they have the confidence to land their shots and got into the sport, let them switch to hard rubber to properly develop their techniques.

I 100% agree with the 4 types of combinations. I played a hard Chinese rubber on a hard and fast blade. It is nice to play but everything needs to be super precise and you need a lot of power to keep every attack strong. I was playing around with a very fast and hard European rubber on a defensive blade (LP on backhand) and this was MUCH more enjoyable. Looping is easy from anywhere and killershots are still strong. Too fast blade is not good!
@ivanivan4155
@ivanivan4155 2 жыл бұрын
I was using LP on offensive blades for years but that wasn't really good, defensive blades like "Sword 309 Chop and Butterfly Diode V" are much better for LP.
@blueheart9873
@blueheart9873 2 жыл бұрын
@@ivanivan4155 In this case LP OX (no sponge) can be good if you want to play very agressive (chop-)blocks and stay close to table while attacking with forehand. LP on fast blades give maximum disruption but can't chop for example

Lots of people including myself have asked for examples of blades and rubbers so I went back to read the equipment videos emratthich has done on blades and rubbers. He has mentioned a few blades and rubbers and also gives data so you can understand how to choose yourself. This is very long but I hope it is valuable for you. As you can see he has answered this question many times in many ways. Best of luck to you. In his video "Understand Table Tennis Equipment. Choose best paddle and rubber." EmRatThich says this.. "So, if you are a progressing player, who wants to learn table tennis as fast as possible, the best blade for you is the Allround, Allround + all wood blade. It has the best feeling, and helps you improve your table tennis techniques to spin the ball." For amateur table tennis player." "Western players change equipment too much. The rule of thumb is that you need at least 6 months to feel your blade." "Focus more on your technique and tactics and you will improve several notes? He also mentions off- as being acceptable later in this video. He also says in this video that you only go to a faster blade only after you can consistently hit 4 out of 5 full hard loops in and you feel in great control but just need more speed to kill the point. Before buying new blade buy faster rubber and if have the same consistency as before and you still want more speed then upgrade to the next level faster blade. In his video "Secret of Table Tennis in China and Tacky Rubber" he says Stiga Allround Classic ALL and it "shouldn't be too stiff or too soft". He also says "no carbon blades or super fast blades". "Stiga blades have a good quality wood and clear vibration provides good feeling? He also says to use a "good feeling , not too fast blade, then you have confidence?. "Tacky DHS Hurricane 3 rubber for forehand, In the comments section of this video EmRatThich says "It's not necessary to change to Stiga blade, choose any mark that you like. But just buy an OFF- or ALL+ blade. Don't buy an OFF++ blade. Use more hip to generate power and spin." Later EmRatThich says..."Of course, many of you can topspin with Donic F3. I don't mean that you can't topspin with very soft rubber. But for a new player, using too soft rubber is not good. Don't stick with very soft rubber." He also told me that my Nittaku Acoustic (Offensive -) was a good blade. Later in the comments he says "Allround blade or allround+ is better as we will use the polyball. Find a good stiga blade, or find an OSP blade. (Osp Expert is very good)." Later in comments he says The blade decides 80% of the spin and power. Choose a good blade, and find any medium/medium hard rubber. Rubber technology has made all of you "blind". There are many type of rubbers, however, your table tennis won't improve. In China, they don't have enough money to buy such a Tenergy, however, their table tennis is very good. :)" Later comment "You can buy an Allround + blade, stiga blade or osp blade. (find on google for osp blade). Change it ! and you will improve your table tennis faster ! try it and you will see ! all chinese player start playing with allround blade !" Later... "chinese technique has found a new way to increase spin and power. The power come from your legs, hips. And you can add speed and spin by rotation of the hips. And to increase spin, you should use harder rubber. Concerning rubbers he says "Hurricane, skyline Tinarc, H3, H2. TG3, TG2, H8," etc. is not important technique is. Then he says "Use a medium hard rubber at first" Then when your technique improves and If you are strong enough transition into a hard rubber." Later he says.. "There are many option. You can find a typical Hurricane DHS rubber, and use a booster to soften, to tune this rubber. You can also find a chinese rubber with 38 Chinese degree hardness. There are many brand: dragon, DHS, doublefish. It's not important, just find the rubber of 38-39 degree hardness.." "No need to be tacky. Tackiness will loose during time. I'm using a normal 38-39 degree hardness without tackiness. All of the pro rubber has tackiness when it is new, however, during 2 weeks, tackiness decreases to zero." In one of his other videos "Chinese rubber (DHS Hurricane vs High Tension Rubber" he says to a subscriber that said the Hurricane 3 was heavy and hard and con convenient ... "Tacky Chinese rubber is very depending on technique, if you never played this rubber before and d o not fell comfortable you have two options. First, practice more (technique) second is to use tensor rubber" He also says in this video that many Chinese commercial provincial and national rubbers are fake" so buy only from reputable source. Later he says all the National is fake as players do not sell the rubbers they are given. The commercial rubbers are just tuned and then packaged as National Blue Sponge for example. Later Gojko comments "I use chinese TT rubbers since 1982. From old Friendship 729 over DHS PF 4 to these days with Globe 999. I'm very satisfied and I never will change them. It's individual. The point is just find right combination of sponge hardness and elasticity. Upper layer is always same with superb stickiness and longevity. EmRatThich responds to this question "Yes, I found the same conclusion with you. The point is just find a right sponge hardness and elasticity." In later post EmRatThich says... "Spin Art is a good FH rubber, but you have many other options: LKT Rapid or 729 is ok too. For me, Spin Art is something between Chinese and European rubber. For BH, you can use Razka 7." Later he says... "You can use Tensor or Chinese rubber based on your technique. I just want to mention that the Chinese players are trained to hit very hard. That's why they need Chinese rubber." Another subscriber comments,,,"I use DHS H£ Neo on both sides because my FH and BH are same I think. Should I change to tensor rubber on BH? EmratThich responds..If you use BH to drive, to loop you should use Tensor rubber. If you use BH just to slow down the ball, to block, to chop, to push, it's ok using chinese on BH. However, for long time, you will make a bad habit for your BH." Another Subscriber comments.. My forehand is very dominant and I want a rubber with a very hard sponge and tacky surface for a very "clear and direct" feeling and to create a lot of Power myself (Not from the rubber or blade). So I thought this rubber fits very well for me ... but how can I get a hand on this really "original" and not european modified rubber? EmRatThich responds.."Cool. So you want to generate the force from your body. Just take a cheap Chinese rubber, find some rubber from LKT and 729. The rubber of DHS has been modified, and lost the true feeling of chinese rubber. DHS rubber varies from pack to pack and less consistent." Another subscriber comments... "I am going to buy new rubbers for forehand and backhand. Do you have any suggestions? I am a forehand dominant player who likes to block with backhand. EmRatThich responds.."It depends also of your blade. Find a good setup can take time. For your FH, you can try several medium hard rubber on the market, yasaka rakza 7 is a safe choice."

3 Weeks ago in the comments of this EmRatThich video (Epic Battle in Table Tennis: Long Pimples vs Normal Inverted Rubber) He said "the best looping blade that you can buy: violin, boll spirit, osp expert, Viscaria. I think for you, boll spirit is the best." This was his response to a subscriber that asked "my blade broke (donic Waldner Ultra Senso Carbon), can you suggest a new blade under 100 dollars for looping style which has slightly more punch than that blade. It looks like this player may have been a bit more advanced and this may be why eMRatThich included Offensive blades like Timo Boll Spirit and Viscaria. From what I have read on Nittaku's site and other places the Violin is Offensive- and the OSP Expert is definitely ALL+ plus but has some extra power for hard well struck strokes. I have almost never read anything negative about these four blades. They are the cream of the crop depending on which level you are starting at.

These EmRatThich answers are from his video "The Truth about Chinese Rubbers Ma Long Forehand Rubber". You should watch this video also but here are some answers to equipment questions. Another subscriber asked this question "You mentioned that chinese brands have good alternatives for european or japanese brands; Can you help me choose a cheaper alternative to Tenergy on the backhand? Also, I currently use Globe 999 blue sponge national on FH; is it a "good" chinese rubber or do other brands have similar or better rubbers for FH. " EmRatThich Answers here "there are many alternatives to ten05: MX-P, Rhyzm, bluefire, Rakza. Yes, your globe 999 is a consistent FH rubber. stick with it." When asked later about Chinese players boosting rubbers he replies "They do boost their rubbers! It's a must! TO use Chinese rubber, you must use booster to tune it to the optimal state!" Later answering a different question EmRat Thich says" That's why both Ma Long, Wang Liqin and many others use good looping blade (OFF- blade) quick give good feeling and high throw angle. The blade will give you dwell time and spin. In general, low throw rubber goes well with high dwell time blade." Another Subcriber asks.. "Are you able to mention your 40 dollar racket that you suggest. I use acuda s2 but not sure how to translate that into a Chinese rubber. " EmRatThich answers.. "yes. there are many variations. But for example: KTL Instinct, controlled attack blade (5ply) only 20usd. 729 FX (2.0 BLUE Sponge) $15.00 and Apollo II - Factory Tuned for only 9usd."

I quit table tennis in 2017 but back when I played I lived in China for 2 years and played on the streets, on stone tables and all types of different places. I called it “street table tennis”. Anything went in that, any type of ball, rubber, whatever. One girl was using two rackets at the same time, in each hand. I started collecting obscure blades and rubbers, mixing and matching them, long pips on one side, short on the other, etc. It was fun. I still have a container full of hundreds of rubbers and tons of blades. Some I bought in Bali after I moved but continued to play.

AB C some of the set ups chinese use: Ma Long has a blade of his own especially made for him(don't know the name). Fan zhendong uses a Stiga blade, infinity VPS diamond touch. (one of the best ever) xu xin also uses a stiga blade, intensity NCT. and last Zhang Jike uses a butterfly viscaria. As for the rubbers it's pretty simple, 90% of them plays with a DHS rubber on forehand. Hurricane 3 neo (blue sponge and boosted) mostly used. For the backhand it recently switched because of the new ball. Before it was almost either a Tenergy 05 or something but now it is more often a different DHS rubber or Fan Zhendong has a Stiga rubber. A good set up that I personally recommend is the OC stiga blade 30$. It is a great starting blade and once you get better you can upgrade to infinity vps diamond. wich is slightly faster but still very flexible for an amazing price 65$ for the forehand rubber DHS Hurricane 3 Neo (orange sponge) wich is cheaper and slightly slower than the national version. 20-30$ and backhand depends how strong your backhand is. players with a weak backhand use a Tenergy or tensor rubber. 60$. Because backhand differs more between players it's hard to say. Find a rubber that suits your playing style. hope this helped 😀

I love that the advice in this video is true. I got my first custom racket in October 2018. It is a all+ blade with medium hardness rubbers. I can feel the spin of my opponent as well as generate a lot of spin. When those rubbers get worn out, I will purchase hard rubber for forehand and medium to medium-hard on backhand. I sold my PG7 because I find it stiff (I had H3 neo on FH and T80 on BH) for my strokes, most of my topspins are out. I bought a slower one, Xiom Vega Pro, it has more dwell time than PG7, I follow your lessons on power on the ground and how do I say this, I improved a lot, no one actually explained this to me before. Now, I am working on my footwork and explosivenes and consistency. current setup Xiom Vega Pro FH: H3 neo (I kinda plan on switching to H3-50 for more power but...I'll think about it) BH: tenergy 05 (I actually prefer Acuda S2 but since my clubmate was offering slightly used T05 for half the original price, I kinda went with it, xD)

I still love my PG7 DHS Blade, does everything I want it too and as long as my touch is okay, topspin/looping/blocking shots are just fine. Current Set Up: Blade: PG7 Penhold Forehand: Friendship 729 Short Pips RITC 802 Tack Speed 1.5 mm Backhand: Butterfly Bryce High Speed 1.9 mm QUESTION: Has anyone tried 1. Butterfly Challenger Attack, Butterfly Flarestorm, Butterfly Raystorm, or Butterfly Flarestorm 2 here? I heard pimples structures vary and I wanted to hear what a user has to say about them. I previously had DHS Skyline 2 Neo on forehand but for 4 years of trying to consistent perform my topspin strokes in matches, I overshot a lot of balls or I wanted to hit more flat (due to my tennis background). I switched to short pips and I love the pushes/blocking/smashes (I still miss the Ma Lin looping and 3rd ball attack style on the far backhand side). The PG7 Blade has that speed and slight flex to it. Not to mention I find the blade visually appealing as hell. Currently emulating Shan Xiaona/Liu Guoliang/Tin Tin Ho/Ma Lin play styles.

@ivanivan4155
@ivanivan4155 2 жыл бұрын
He said in the video, the backhand rubber should be 2-3° softer than your forehand rubber but it all depends on how much you practice and how fast you are... Harder rubbers tend to be harder to play with properly but with a very good technique, they are much much better than soft ones.

Hi Coach, Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, you are making a big difference for players like me who do not have a coach to guide us. I am an intermediate/progressing player who is still learning the correct techniques and I would like your suggestion on a good racket set-up. please suggest me good blade and rubbers for forehand and backhand... I am a backhand dominant player who plays close to table and mid-distance. I have a attacking game. After watching your videos I went back to a very old Stiga pre-made 20 dollar bat and found that it gave me great control and feeling. It was very light and had a small dimensions(small i size) so I was able to switch between FH and BH easily which made me feel that the bat was an extension of my arm. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

So many ask the same questions... One Of them are how to choose a good flexible blade. Many flexible blades are 5ply only Wood, Good composition is ayous-Limba-ayous-limba-ayous. Just Search for the blade you are intrested in and composition, some forums or sites show THE composition. 2. Compostite blades are not flexible enough for People Still learning correct strokes. For example ALC and ZLC, as well as carbon blades. Some 7 ply Woods are pretty flexible, good too purchase after learning strokes to get some more Speed. 3. Why pro plays pretty fast and a bit harder blades then emratthich says is because their technique is already developed and they can hit really Hard, so they don't need that much dwell time. Viscaria is not considered very flexible, Good for pros though. To be sure get a 5 ply Wood Blade and not to thick, around 5,5mm. Put some Hard rubber on forehand and medium Hard on backhand and it's all Good. Examples in blades: Stiga allround classic Yasaka Sweden extra Nittaku violin Butterfly primorac Butterfly Petr korbel Timo boll Allround Butterfly grubba All+ Stiga Celero Wood Etc. Rubbers: (Not as important as Blade) (BH. Around 45 deg europe scale or 36 chinese scale) (FH. Around 49 deg europe scale or 38 deg chinese scale) Rememer that rubber don't have to cost much, friendship has some Good cheap rubbers as 729 super Fx which is not soft as they say, you can go even harder after a while. Tenergy has their own degree scale btw. 36 for Them is around 47-49 in Europe scale (i think!). Only did this to help emratthich, the Guy is a king.

So im thinking in 2 options, one is replace the backhand rubber with the DHS G666 to learn the technique or change both sides to learn first before playing with the acuda blue p2 rubbers. Thank You!

@13:37 you want it to say: "if you want control, a thin hard rubber is much better than a thick soft rubber.". I do not correct you to be rude but in English this is an important correction. Adding the 'but/s' completely confuses the meaning and requires the ability to interpret the meaning by knowing the rules of English to properly understand it. Most native English speakers will not have a problem understanding the sentence because they will block out the 'but/s' subconsciously, but foreign speakers could run into some problems which will cause them to think you contradicted yourself. Obviously, if you watch the whole video your teaching is clear and exact, I'm only trying to help you improve your English. :) PS. Excellent video! I just started to get back into TT and have been playing at a friends once a week (I've only lost 3 games out of over 50 :D ). I grew up playing tennis and have a natural ability for racket sports. European players like me, favor curved trajectory, we can use it to take the ball late and tensor rubbers are less tiring, they don't require extreme power. I've used the h3 neo for a year, it helped me build my tecknique, but now going back to the tenergy I'm better than ever, more relaxed, spinny, fast, precise, and I don't get tired on the 2nd set, and I had the h3 on a viscaria, it was still slower than death... But the high arc made it up for me, and made the transition easy.

soft rubber will cause bottom out? that the ball leave the racket before you finish the stroke? speed glue worked by making the rubber softer, letting the ball "dig" into the rubber, and making shots more controllable and with greater catapult effect

I've been playing for around a year now but I was using a fast blade ( Yinhe T-11) which made my strokes incomplete as you taught in your videos. Now, I plan to start all over using a proper beginner paddle. As such, I bought this setup. Donic Appelgren Allplay 2 yasaka mark v 1.5mm Here are few inquiries. 1. What do you think about this setup? 2. Would this be optimal in relearning my strokes? 3. What would be an alternative setup (Chinese brands)? 4. What would be the next step for my current setup? Do I just increase thickness of yasaka mark v? Or do I change to Chinese rubber? Thanks in advance.

Hi Coach, First of all, I have improved a lot since I started watching your videos but still in the beginner-intermediate stage. So I'd like to thank you for that. Secondly, I'm not financially well off, so I cant buy expensive equipment. I use pre-made bats exclusively cause those are the only ones I can afford. Also, there isn't a lot of choice of rubbers and blades here. So I'd love to know how to determine rubber hardness and other parameters by physically examining them. Same for blades, how do you know if they are stiff or flexible? Can you please make a tutorial on that. Thank You!

Go to tabletennisdb.com and when you find a blade you can see the averages users idea of speed, control, stiffness and other things. The stiffness indicates the flexibility. A range of 2.8 to 3.5 is considered medium flex. You do not want to less because this extra flexibility is better for defense. Once you get over 4 it is starting to be stiff and does not have much flex. When you check a specific blade on google look for the search result from tabletennisdb.com and you can find the specifics about that blade. Good luck. Stiga Allround classic, donic appelgren allplay, Yaska Allround Classic each around $30. Each of these is ALL speed. If you have more money to spend %120 get a OSP Expert blade at OSPblades.com (ALL+ speed). The Yinhe w^ is a great flexible blade but it is OFF- speed. Depending on your skill level you should start at ALL then ALL+ the OFF-. He often mentions stiga Allround Classic (ALL speed and control $40), OSP Expert ($120 ospblades.com ALL + Speed and control) and Nittaku Violin ($180 OFF- speed and great control). Other great ALL blades are Donic Appelgren Allplay $45, Yasaka Allround Classic $35, Butterfly Primorac $70 between ALL+ & OFF- (This is a great blade bit a tiny bit less flexible than the others here. The more skilled you are the more you can move from ALL to ALL+ to OFF-. Best of luck to you.

Hi EmRatThich. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. But is it okay if share us your specific recommendations of what you think are best examples of combo of a flexible blade and a hard rubber. The reason I asked is that I think even of some blades have the same composition, not all of these blades perform the same. Same with rubbers, not all rubbers of the same degree will perform the same. So for example, is dhs pg7 a good example of a flexible blade or stiga infinity or the other all wood blades. Or in the case of rubbers, are those commercial version of H3 neo good to start with? What are your specific recommendations.

Currently i have a Donic Waldner Senso Carbon (not Ultra) with Donic Acuda S2 black front and Donic Desto F3 for backhand. I want to switch to Chinese rubber again. I understand the logic behind the concept of hard rubber and flexible blade. But without having tackiness the hard rubber is difficult to spin on serves. It needs momentum such as a high toss or opponent loop to generate the spin. With this set up would I lose spinny serves with hard rubber? Also what do you mean by "flexible" blade? Do you mean with a slower speed rating? Can you please give some examples? The DHS Ma Long blade is rated at very fast.

Very interesting video, but I have a question for you: Butterfly says on their website the Tenergy 64 and 05 are 36°, so why are so many pro players in Europe using the 05 when it is so soft? And why do so many players tend to use Boosters to tune their rubber in order make it softer and more spinny? The Hurricane 3 for example is 41° and is one of the most popular rubbers to use a booster on. But after boosting the Hurricane 3, the rubber should be going down from 41° to around 38°. So why make them softer when harder rubbers are "better"? Background is, that I stopped playing table tennis 6 years ago and I recently picked it up again playing once a week. So since 6 weeks I am using my old racket (Andro Kinetic ALL+) with Tenergy 64 2.1mm on my forehand and a Solcion 1.9mm on my backhand side which is a very soft rubber. So I found your video very interesting because I think my backhand is too soft and the Tenergy for my forehand is too fast to control for playing one time a week. And after watching the video I am determined to look for a harder rubber, but I don't know which because of my question above :D In a forum someone said that a European player should buy a XIOM Vega Pro coming from a soft rubber before buying a Hurricane 3, because the Vega Pro would already be hard enough and with the Hurricane 3 the player would make many many errors in the first few weeks because it is too hard. I would really appreciate an answer, thanks :)

Thanks for the answer, I didn't know that! Do you agree with the forum guy, that one shall first try the XIOM Vega Pro or an other hard european rubber before trying the Hurricane 3 and how many is the 41° in european scale? I wonder if emratthich is mixing flexibility and hardness, the dwell time is increased when the blade is less hard, but I wonder if flexibility has that much effect on spin.

Coach Emratthich, is Butterfly Viscaria a good blade and having enough flex? I saw the review on tabletennisdb, Viscaria got 5.1 on its stiffness grade. I am confused with the definition of "flex" in table tennis blade. Is Butterfly Viscaria can be categorized as having the ideal flex you mentioned?

I wonder if there is a good alternative to Stiga Offensive Classic that is a bit slower. I have played with it for 1 year. I was thinking of buying Donic Appelgren Allplay V2.

Hi coach I want to ask a question I am using a cheap chinese blade and rubber, but still a standard one to play with Blade: Yinhe N6s Rubber FH & BH: Yinhe Mercury II - Medium hardness, Max sponge thickness Is it good for learning and building habit to play like how chinese players? Or is there other recommendation for cheap setup to learn chinese style? Thank you very much for your help, Coach EmRatThich

Hello coach, I remember you said that we should not play with rubbers that have hardness lower than 40 degrees. I have problems understanding these hardness scales of different brands. Butterfly 36 degrees(T05) feels harder than Andro Rasanter V42 which is 42 degrees hard... A lot of people on online forums suggest using Palio CJ8000 36-38 for practice and learning to save expensive rubber setup for tournament play only. My question: Is Palio CJ8000 biotech (36-38) harder or as hard as 40 degrees european scale? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello, I love your videos they are very informative and entertaining. Just fantastic how you explain everything. I have one question.You said a hard rubber with a flexible blade is a good setup (kick effect, spin,control) but do you know any examples for that.Maybe from the brand Yinhe or Palio brcause they are cheaper than other.Like maybe around 30-50$? Thanks.

Hello coach. I live in Philippines and I was wondering if my equipment is a good combo for fh and bh topspins?? My coach gave me this:Blade: 729 friendship 8030 Fh rubber: LKT rapid sound Bh rubber: LKT rapid power If this is not a good setup, can you give me some advise and suggestion for choosing my own equipment? Thank you for your videos :) It helped me a lot to train by myself when I am not able to practice on my club since my school eats most of my time.

Hi My name is Asif. I satrted playing table tennis about a year ago. You can take me as a beginner player who is learning basic table tennis strokes. I play table tennis as a hobby but really want to learn and improve my game. I like to spin the ball and play offensive shots. (I can spin the ball in any direction topspin,backspin,sidespin using both forehand and backhand). Untill now I have been using cheap pre-assembled racket. Now I want to buy a new racket but do not have idea which blade or rubber should I choose. Would you recomend me a combination of blade and rubber in reasonable price region. I will be very thankful.

Nice Information Sir. Thanks for the video. Can u please give use some examples of 4 types of setups. Or just give us examples of types of blades (flexible, off+, Off++) and rubbers (hard, soft). I used off++ rated blade (DHS PG9) but I didnt feel anything like u explained, the control and dwell was good on that blade (Maybe I got an defective unit) Right now I am using DHS Fang Bo 2 carbon blade with Hurricane 8 on FH side and andro rasant grip on BH. How good is this setup for both side looping style player like me. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Avinash..I have been experimenting with blades that emratthich suggests/ Here is something I found.

Its all about finding the sweet spot in terms of dwell. Euro style uses the rubber to produce the dwell and chinese use the blade. Both style have there pros and cons.

Hi coach, I use hard and stiff blade (donic ovtcharov carbospeed) with h3neo tacky rubber on forehand and joola maxxx500 on my backhand, it make me improve a lot but sometime my shoot goes to fast out of the table, should i change with hard and medium stiff blade(viscaria maybe)? Or maybe i just need more practice? Thanks a lot..
