I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Six years ago we moved to a 7 acre property with 3 creeks running thru it. I bought a Stihl FS70R trimmer. I DESPISE winding string! I bought the polycut head attachment and use the polycut blades. Best decision ever. It slices thru thick weeds, bramble and brush in the creeks like a hot knife through warm butter. I got 5 years of heavy use out of it and when it died, I bought another one. Used it for the first time this season today. Creeks are quite overgrown and this makes getting them into a manageable state much easier.

It's an amazing machine. part of me wants to go back and buy the stihl because of the variable speed adjustment. I have broken my fence because I sqeeeze the trigger to hard LOL I'm super happy with the t262. just know that in the beginning the carb has to break in a bit and you'll need to let it warm up. after a months worth of starts itll purr like a kitten.

I was a tech in a shop exactly like Cutlers and may I highly recommend using Stihl moto mix fuel or true fuel. These will save headaches of hard starts or not mixed properly or fuel lines rotting off. Ethanol and other chemicals in the gas will rot lines and ruin the diaphragms in your carb. Just an idea, awesome unit, you’ll love it.

I’ve been an echo guy for years. Love their saws. Went to buy a gas echo trimmer about 7 years ago. It was junk. I think the carb was bad from the start. Returned it, got a propane craftsman just for something different, it was junk. Went back to echo, but this time I got the 58v electric. Been using it for about 5 years now. Very happy with it. I charge the battery a couple times a year, they are still great. Have since bought their chainsaw, edger. Bought the mower for my work. I really like the system. Pas even works with the first gen echo electric trimmer.

First of all this is one of the best videos I have ever viewed about trimmers & I learned a lot from you! I had a Ryobi for about 10 years that was battery operated & I spent more time with the GD string than I did weed wacking. I got so pissed off a few days ago & place the wacker in my vise & cut it up with my hack saw & threw the blasted thing out. The next wacker I buy will be most likely an EGO (Battery Operated) with two strings that is easy to install. Thanks again for a great video!

I have worked for parks department and I have done residential/commercial lawn care I have used Husqvarna echo stihll straight and curved shaft the main reason I would pick curve over straight is I’m right handed and I can walk forward with a curve shaft I have never ran into a problem with power if you spend over 175.00 typically as far as height goes you can get longer shafts if needed. The biggest problem with trimmers is the same problem with any small engine the carburetor goes out because of storage problems. You can get electric but your batteries go bad pick your poison. My opinion for what it’s worth functional and ergonomic. with your fencing wood or vinyl aren’t a big string killer chain link fence is

The best trimmer is the fiskers pole trimmer shears with a rotating head 👍 No string just sharpen them once a season 👍 it’s manual no gas or electric or battery Zero noise and I my grip is like a vise great workout 👌 You might say it takes more time to do my yard but I save time on repairs,gas,and cost my yard is an average size yard. Been using it for years .never will I go back also use a manual edger with the spikes on the wheel just to get the edge started in the spring and will use that maybe 3 to 4 times throughout the cutting season 👍

One BIG hint: NEVER hit the bump feed on the concrete! Only on dirt or grass. I use a straight shaft trimmer since a curved shaft won't fit under my flower boxes mounted under my windows, a straight shaft will trim all the way to the brick, a curved shaft won't get within 6 inches of the brick. A HUGE factor as you get older (74 in October) is the weight of the trimmers, the gas models work great but are heavy. I have one of the better model Troy Bilts with the full crank motor for durability, uses .095" line, that easy load head and a starter attachment in case it doesn't want to start you can use a drill to start it. That was important to me since I had a previous trimmer, a cheapie gas model that was extremely difficult to start, half the time it wouldn't start at all, this Troy Bilt has been very easy to start, downside is its heavy! I have a couple of heavy duty electrics from Ryobi, one is a curved shaft I've had for a long time, great trimmer till you get to the flower boxes, and a newer Ryobi, similar HD electric model .080" line, but with a straight shaft. These are still a little bit heavy but not as heavy as a gas model.
@pestandlawnginja4 жыл бұрын
great feedback. thanks for taking the time to write your comment.

I prefer the heavy gas model with a straight shaft because it's more reliable and last longer, and I'm only 5' 5" and 77 years young. Of course I'd never buy a Ryobi tho. I play guitar and prefer the ultra heavy Gibson Les Paul Standard because it plays better, is better built and sounds awesome, lol.🙂

Totally sold on the EGO products. I just sold all my gas powered Stihl equipment and went all in EGO after using the carbon shaft string trimmer. It's a beast, starts right up after shutting it off, doesn't flood out and if people haven't seen how it spools line up then they are missing out. No more getting gas fume blasted by the hedge trimmers either, straight full speed when you pull the trigger, doesn't bog down, doesn't wake up the neighborhood, so yea I sold out to battery operated. If your lawn is under 10K sq. ft. why wouldn't you. Only thing I am not ready for is the mower, I'll stick with my Honda.

Morning from Delaware! Tall Fescue seed recently planted in a previously wooded area. With all the watering and rain I have had the buoyant wood chips are rising to the surface. The grass is about 1/2”-1” now. Is it safe to leaf blow the wood chips without hurting the newly sprouted grass?

I made the switch to Ego a few years ago. I have to say, I feel like the trimmer and mower both have more power than the Echo and Honda's that they replaced. The mower senses when I've hit a thick spot and adds more power, my Honda just bogged down. The trimmer is the same way. I've helped clear weeds on an overgrown lot, went through multiple battery charges but never felt like it was the power holding me back. My buddy with the Echo was far slower. I can't speak to commercial use, but for a consumer that mows a few lawns around the neighborhood, Ego is pretty amazing.

How to pick the right trimmers.... Drive around your neighborhood and find 5 lawn service companies and look at what they are using. I can help you because it's usually a Redmax or a Stihl. I prefer Redmax but not against Stihl but being a owner of a company and having 30 yrs in the business in Michigan where the grass can grow 10 inches in a week and is very thick and you need power and reliability/durability then it's Redmax and Redmax 8500 blowers.

I have the Ego 56v trimmer. Love it honestly. I have neighbors on 3 sides, so no woodsy area or anything heavier than grass on a fence line. I’m a little bummed they came out with the multi tool version a year later... would have been nice but oh well. Have the mower too. I can do my 4000 sq ft two or three times on a charge! Can’t go wrong with Stihl for sure. I just like a bigger handle.

The echo pas-225 is great unit for new homeowners. I would only get the straight head weed eater and the edger, the other attachments seem to be more gimmick than anything especially the blower.
@pestandlawnginja4 жыл бұрын
I hear you. it's okay for people with smaller yards or who do some small hedging or tree trimming. I like heavier duty but I have to admit the shindaiwa attachments were really nice with there multi unit.
@LarryHanson4 жыл бұрын
A Stihl Kombi is a pretty penny in up front cost, but it's the motor you are really paying for. You can buy a dedicated grass trimmer, dedicated hedge trimmer, dedicated pole saw, dedicated brush cutter, dedicated edger, etc. Each one has its own motor that you have to pay for and maintain. That is the bulk of the cost of a dedicated unit. With the Stihl Kombi you buy one super high quality motor and the attachment dollars go into paying for a super high quality maintainable specialized unit that will give you excellent performance, and that you're not going to have to toss in 3-5 years. Add on a speed head and make sure you use ethanol free gas with proper mix and you'll start that thing first pull every use with minimal headaches. All the pro rental shops near me rent out and maintain Stihl so if I need parts or repair I'm all set,. But over the almost 10 years that I've owned my Stihl Kombi I've mostly just gone to the shop to buy additional attachments to expand my arsenal. Looks like Echo has similar type system to Stihl Kombi, but I've never noticed it around my neck of the woods. Bottom line, Stihl Kombi is the bomb if you're willing to invest up front! Have fun with your new toy Ginja!

They are way cool! Couldnt agree more
@jeremybruce6542 жыл бұрын
Actually on the speed feed head you can insert that middle piece the wrong way and doesn’t release properly. I use Echo trimmers and I have both Stihl and Echo blowers. 1 trimmer I have had for 8 years, 1 for 5 years and my newest is the combi which I am on my 3rd year. I have had no breakdowns and I use the RedMax fuel in spring and fall otherwise I use mixed fuel non oxy through the main season. I have found Stihl has carb issues often, issue unknown probably people using the unstable or old fuel.

Mostly due to the opinion of some store owners. The model I chose had the least amount of returns at that time. At this point I would chose a multi tool. Technology is fantastic. However I will say the weed whacker I chose is still working with zero issues. It was a great buy and I still use it multiple times per week

@@pestandlawnginja Appreciate the response! I’m so torn between the Echo’s version and Shindaiwa. Have you experienced any vibrations from the shaft from idle to high RPMs? I’ve read some complaints from both Echo and Shin users, while others say theirs are pretty smooth, so it’s almost 50/50. But yes definitely, I plan to pick up either an Echo/Shin multi-tool along with a dedicated standalone string trimmer.
@pestandlawnginja Жыл бұрын
@@kennyboyy I've had zero mechanical issues with the Shindaiwa i purchased. at high high rpm's my only complaint is the kick it gives when I don't place the line where it needs to be and it jumps hahaha. Other than that my only issue is there are items like the ego with the multi head that have new heads that speed feed with such ease. I'm hoping to get my hands on them soon for a review. battery power has come light years in the last year. sufficient for weed whacking yards and grass up to 6" no problem. the issue i've faced is the edgers in the past haven't had as much power as gas. but again i won't know until later. i know the echo has a multi system so i'd probably go that route. you won't appreciate until after you get it. the space savings is worth more than you realize after you purchase it.
