Good tips for planning colour and some of the combos were surprising to me…thanks so much!

Bonny, once again, you’ve done a fabulous job talking about the under layers of your painting. Very informative!

Great video! So nice to hear the thought process of an experienced artist who has an amazing eye. Also suggesting colors that I'd never think of has really helped!

So helpful! I was totally about to see and understand what you were talking about. I know I'm pretty experimental and perhaps even a bit wild with colors, but I really like the way you rationalize your color choices, it makes good sense to me. Thanks Bonnie!

Thank you for sharing Bonny. I've never thought of using Photoshop to help me choose the right colours. It's probably a lot quicker than the way i currently do it.

I use photoshop to edit my ref photos before I use them if I need to, but it's also a good tool to have if you want to look at colours etc as you can zoom right in. You can use your phone or tablet too and there are apps that give you certain colours, but as I explained in the video the layering process is so much fun and really helps you to develop as a coloured pencil artist - working out what colours work with others when layered under or over :)

Thank you, this was very helpful for me!!! What about yellows (labs, palaminos, duns, etc)?

Thank you Bonny, this was very helpful. I don't think you rambled on too much at all. I am pretty new to CP, and being an artist who works primarily in acrylic, the idea of using many layers of color to get the final result is challenging and exciting! I am in love with my Polychromos, and how they blend together. I agree that much of the fun in working with the pencils is just experimenting to see what they do. I am catching up on all your videos, and look forward to the next one!

YES.. so cool. I am trying to do a pencil drawing of my cob...Starlight. DO YOU HAVE A TUTORIAL ON A COBS BLUE EYE? I was having a hard time finding the right color. I have a problem maybe you could help me with....when I'm laying down base color....very very lightly..I find it hard to add the hair texture because I have no tooth left on my paper. 😣..and I try to not make the texture too static. Would appreciate any help!! Do you have a patreon page?

@@BonnySnowdonAcademy hi bonnie!! Well I have bought so many kinds of paper...I have the canson1557 185g...pastel 160g..watercolor...strathmore drawing paper 130 g and color pencil paper 163g. So I have spent money on this paper pads..hoping something will work. I have been practicing my pressure...super light hand...layering...but the grains still show through the color and it just looks grainy and sketch like....by the time I have no paper showing through..the wax build up is there....so in tried pencil blend ..I dont like it very much.... I would love love love it if u would do a full face tutorial on a gypsy cob...I have 2 of them...study them..trim my own hooves..love them so much...and I now want to perfect drawing them💕😌. I will check out your patreon page ...excited to get the eye tutorial. I'm a beginner with pencil...any recommendations on what is a good starting point? I was using oil...but wanted to learn a medium where i could take my supplies easily with me when traveling....And practice realism. Looking forward to hearing back from you! Tammy. Alberta Canada
