Thank you for all your great videos and usefull informations! I like the D6 and Beta91. For a Snare Beta98 top and e904 bottom. At the toms e904. With the size and the clips its very nice to find a good position for the sound and that the drummer feels good to play. For the hihat AKG C451B. Overheads for low budget Rode NT5 or AKG C3000. Otherwise AKG C414 or Neumann KM184

I like to use one of my best Vocalmics on Snare, the Telefunken M80. I love the Sound.

I have owned all the drums mics he mentioned but I stick with sennheiser and 57 only the sound is incredible but I have to try other mics for overhead. Sennheiser is my go to drum mic

I usually use a D6 on Kick (often combined with an Kick In mic too), a 57 on Snare Top (looking forward to get an 441 soon, Beyerdynamic M201 is awesome too), a Condenser on Snare Bottom or sometimes an e906, MD421's on Toms (i like condensers too and the M201 or an 441), Overheads are AKG C214 most of the time (C414 works too). I do want to try the SE V7x on Snare soon, if i don't manage to save up to the 441 or the M201... (i am really getting tired of the 57 on Snare. If i can, i tape a small Diaphrame Condenser to it)

yes and no.. there's a lot of extraneous info if you're not a hardcore system tech. So much of the variables are built-in now with DSP on active speakers

Beta 91 inside kick, Telefunken M82 outside. Then Beyer M201 on top and 57 on bottom. e904 on toms and 414 XLII for OH

Beta 52 kick, rode pencils for OH, and a random sterling sp 150 on floor tom (weird setup but sounds amazing shockingly)

They sound even better if you place it on a A5 size piece of Plexiglass.. it increases the pickup pattern. Crank the 60hz and 4k attack to taste ..

Transients need Jesus too... ;) Seriously, though, we have had a lot of time to get the drums at church well mic'ed and dialed in, and it was a team effort. My issue is the event I have where someone is bringing a small set of drums and I'll have an hour at best to dial them in. In that case, it's nothing fancy. I have a small army of ksm137s that I use for violins when we put together an orchestra, and they work great when you don't know what drums you'll be mic'ing until the last minute. They have a good low frequency response and tolerate a high SPL. For amplifying a natural sounding set and style, especially when you need it to sound decent quickly, they do the trick.

They're the condenser version of the 57. They just work on pretty much everything.
