The other reason for using 7 X 50 is exit pupil. Objective lens diameter in mm divided by magnification yields the diameter of the image at the eyepiece. In this case 7mm. Healthy young eyes dialilate to about 7mm in full darkness. Thus the 7 X 50 is a "Night glass." Good for night use. If you use glasses, choose a glass with eye cups that allow adjustment of the distance from glasses to binocular eyepiece. This is called "Eye relief."

how do I chose binoculars if I wear glasses. Do you look through the binoculars with glasses on or with glasses off??

Great question, Kurt! Most binoculars have a diopter adjustment on one eyepiece that allows you to use them without your glasses. You can certainly wear your glasses while using binoculars if you prefer, but it can be awkward and uncomfortable.
