Its dangerous to go to your limits yourself. Its good to learn snorkling and basic finswimming before starting to freedive. After that Id reccomend a basics course and then you can find a buddy to dive with and practice yourself.

Its so expensive to get into monofin. You kinda need Carbon fiber or fiberglass because plastic is way to soft. I used to swim with a monofin as a kid but now I just cannot afford a fin. I have decent apnoe fins that I just use dolphin style, it isnt that different.
